Recalling the shooting of 20 first graders as the worst day of his presidency, President Barack Obama on Sunday pledged to put his "full weight" behind a legislative package next year aimed at containing gun violence.
In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," Obama voiced skepticism about proposals to place armed guards at schools in the aftermath of the Dec. 14 deadly assault at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
In his boldest terms yet, he vowed to rally the American people around an agenda to limit gun violence and said he still supports increased background checks and bans on assault weapons and high capacity bullet magazines.
"It is not enough for us to say, 'This is too hard so we're not going to try,'" Obama said. "So what I intend to do is I will call all the stakeholders together. I will meet with Republicans. I will meet with Democrats. I will talk to anybody.

Is he going to ask the Drug Cartel folks to return the guns his JD helped sell to them?...and to please not shoot Americans any more? Is he going to gather robbers and other felons together and ask them not to use guns in their crimes....there are laws on the books now that are not enforced...sorta of like ICE and the felons they release back on the streets so they can kill with a car, knife, or gun....Obama, you're politicizing a tragedy...you're such a jerk, no one believes you anyhow, any more, any way! Please keep your and Michelle's hands off my Second Amendment Rights....you may not believe in our Constitution, but Mr. Obama, I DO!

I take it that Obama is also for disarming the 11 armed guards that guard his daughter’s school..perhaps instead of guns the guards can have Snickers bars instead

Great idea!! Let’s pass laws that make it illegal to commit armed robbery, to commit home invasions, to commit drive-by shootings, and to randomly shoot people.

I guess the news that hundreds of people were killed in Mexico because of the “Fast and Furious” Obama / Holder gun running operation was NOT the worst day of Obama’s presidency. The two dead Border Patrol agents didn’t bother him apparently, either. Disgusting.
Good, he can start by locking up Di Fi and her moonbats while arming the rest of us in case he missed some.
If the Dems introduce anti gun measure, why don’t GOP admend it with absolutely no guns in rich private schools. If it is good enough for middle class school kids, why not rich ones? This includes bodyguards etc etc etc.

I do not believe there is any where in the US or its possessions that “gun violence” isn’t a felony act today. I guess bams wants to make it MORE illegal.

Go practice your fascism in Chicago, and when you find something that controls the violence there, come back and talk with us.
If this is about “gun violence” and not simply “gun control”, then we need to talk about “gang violence”, not “assault weapon bans”. 75% of gun crimes involve a black or a mexican. over 98% of those murders do not involve what could be considered an assault rifle. The vast majority involve a cheap handgun. Most of these cheap handguns were not acquired legally. It’s pretty clear where we need to start looking to reduce gun violence.
