President Obama on Sunday said he would make gun control a priority in his new term, pledging to put his "full weight" behind passing new restrictions on firearms in 2013.
"I'm going to be putting forward a package and I'm going to be putting my full weight behind it," Obama said in an interview aired on NBC's "Meet the Press."
"I'm going to be making an argument to the American people about why this is important and why we have to do everything we can to make sure that something like what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary does not happen again."

In the last couple days I have detected an increasing effort to try and demoralize those who would put up resistance with stories of how they’ll all be killed or give up. I would not consider all of this to be coincidental, in fact, it smacks of Tokyo Rose.
I think Barry and his wife have underestimated the Americans’ love of freedom. There are still a lot Americans living in this country. At least half of the population.

Politically, yes. But you were mentioning cops at the door. And you are correct, thats a losers game to allow yourself to be fixed and reduced by a superior force. Confronted at home, you are a cooperative citizen.
But armed resistance to a totalitarian is best done through a leaderless, unorganized cell structure. A cell can even be one person. The cells. while unable to betray other elements are not really alone. They share a commonly understood philosophy and goal, and all would instinctively know when, what, etc. Thats the modern way.
A classic example is the IRA vs Sein Fein. The philosphophical leaders cannot lead anyone to you, because they communicate only via the media etc.
It’s a very tough nut to crack. Best of all, leaderless resistance was developed in the USA in the early 60s to guide resisters in their efforts after a communist victory over America. Hey,,,come to think of it,,,,oh, nevermind,,

Nothing I would like to see better than Obama hunkered down in the White House like Salvador Allende in 1973.
A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion: There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin. Allow me to restate that number: Over the last several months, Wisconsin's hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. More men under arms than in Iran. More than France and Germany combined. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.
That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan's 700,000 hunters, all of whom have now returned home safely. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It's millions more.
The point?
America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.
Hunting....it's not just a way to fill the freezer..It's a matter of national security.
That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed. foreign and domestic Translation: No Hawaiian birth certificate.
Overall it's true,so if we disregard some assumptions that hunters don't possess the same skills as soldiers,the question would still remain...what army of 2 million would want to face 30, 40, 50 million armed citizens.
Be Prepared.
You put up a liberal, and your liberal lost. Get over it.
The GOP that put up the liberal and pulled the dirty tricks and cheated, are to blame. Not the people that stood on principle and didn't vote for your liberal.
You know, the one that signed into law the 'assault weapon' ban when he was governor...
You want the GOP to win, get control of your establishment and push a conservative, instead of smash-mouthing conservatives like Rove did.
