Can somebody explain to me why I shouldn’t feel like the current day is very reminiscent of Genghis Khan’s days?

Ghengis Khan's military personnel were a professional and disciplined army. Reaching no more than a million soldiers, tops, they conquered most of the world ~ their only real challengers were other Mongols.

If they spent their time wrestling with sex to the degree typical of the Arabs, they'd been dragged back to the Gobi desert and staked out for the wild animals.

Doesn't mean they were good guys but they did reduce the costs of transporting luxury goods East/West by reopening the old Silk Road.

Yeah, Genghis Khan wasn't a religious fanatic... You might find this interesting, basically a story about muslims with a happy ending (muslims all get slaughtered), the tale of Inalchik Khwair Khan, the ****head who thought he was going to show Genghis Khan how bad he was by burning the beards off four Mongolian ambassadors, Mongolian dubbed into Russian but you can get the idea watching it:

Scene opens in the Mongol general staff tent, Genghis Khan speaking.

Actually, it seems a bit more reminiscent of the Japanese invasion of China. I believe the term then was, 'comfort women'.
