Exclusive - GOP: Cuts Won't Be Stopped, Despite Dems' Reluctance
Breitbart ^ | 12/31/12 | Ben Shapiro

While the Washington Post reports this afternoon that Congress is considering pushing off all cuts under a new deal to avert the fiscal cliff, top Republicans say that is absolutely false. The sequester cuts will either go through now, as written, or they will be replaced for no more than two to three months to be more specifically calibrated to avoid the blunderbuss across-the-board cuts largely affecting defense.

During that delay time, cuts equivalent to the cuts that would have happened under the sequester will take place. In short, the same amount will be cut under either deal; the only question is whether the blunderbuss approach happens immediately, or whether short-term cuts are made over the next two months to allow for a more scalpel-like approach.

lets see what these cuts to replace the cuts are...if the GOP were smart, which they are not, they would offer the rats 48hrs to come up with specified cuts or they stop funding obamacare...they were to pu$$y to defund it last year so this gives them the perfect opportunity...

The ONLY thing that makes sense is to leave it alone...let the cuts happen in the ‘blunderbuss’ approach. Across the board! Everything, every department and bureau, every entitlement program, every one of them!
Stop dinking around with this BS. Put it on the socialists and make them own it!

Damn gutless pubbies...

I’d let the blunderbluss defense cuts go through—and then additionally cut by the equivalent to the rest of the budget.

My DoD contract was extended to March 25th to match the "continuing resolution" and last debt limit. The debt limit was reached today. In theory, there isn't any money to cover the "continuing resolution" work through March as of right this minute. In addition, the sequestration is coming forth. That may wipe out any funds anticipated with a new budget.

I've burned two weeks of vacation at home with family in Idaho. I'm expected back in the office Jan 3rd with a pretty full plate and very demanding delivery schedule. That's pure fantasy if there is no money to pay for it. My alternative is to tell my landlord that he has the last month's rent in hand and cart all my stuff home from San Diego. My landlord already knows that is a finite possibility. It has been on the table for months.
