Record snowfall today helped us surpass last year total (Dayton, OH)

Apparently we are making up for last years lack of snow. Today we had a record snowfall of 2.2 inches which puts us at 10.6 inches for December. After our big storm Wednesday and our snowfall this morning we’ve already seen more snow than we did last year.

This morning accumulations varied with a few spots in Mercer county picking up five additional inches while most locations saw about 2 to 3 inches. Here’s a look at Live Doppler 2HD’s snowfall accumulation. Official National Weather Service amounts can be found by clicking here.

All snowstorms, rainstorms, windstorms, hailstorms, etc. are now to be named to expedite the requests for federal aid.
What was the name of the snowstorm that hit Dayton? Barack? Biden?

Love the snow and the cold. Love anything that smacks the global warming argument in the face.

Went to our local mountains last week...Covered with snow and ice....It was beautiful...But I hate being in it...Hate the cold and hate the ice...Drove about 100 miles back home, and it was sunny and 68 degrees...No snow no ice.

For me, snow is best viewed on post cards.

LOL

When I lived in Northern Michigan my girlfriend was among some people rescued by the national guard. They sent them all home from work but it was too late and she ended up on the highway stuck with a lot of other folks.

Record? Maybe that editorless website meant "recorded".

Last year was wonderful for people like me who hate to shovel or drive in the snow. I've already shoveled more this winter than I did last winter.

The next day's blog http://blogs.wdtn.com/2012/12/30/its-a-bright-sunshiney-day/ corrected the "record" snowfall.

I do need to make a correction to yesterday’s blog. The National Weather Service said yesterday that we had a daily record snowfall – this is NOT correct. Dayton did NOT set a daily snowfall record but we’re still above the snowfall we had last year.

My brother was in the Coast Guard. He spent a winter way up on Lake Michigan on a lighthouse.
He said they used to go out and rescue geese frozen to the ice. LOL

Isn’t this the year we’re supposed to explain what snow was to our kids? The algore acolytes at the weather channel were whining all fall about the lack of snow.

While at Worst Pitiful AFB for 8 years, I encountered some of the worst weather I have ever seen...24 below blizzards, F4 tornadoes, scorching heat/humidity and lots of rain. I hated every minute!

Now you know why they stuck the Bosnians there for peace talks. They either had to produce a treaty or die of boredom.
