Graham: Vote yes but fight on debt ceiling
Washington Post ^ | January 1, 2013 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 01/01/2013 11:56:28 AM PST by Uncle Chip

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) urged House Republicans to accept a “fiscal cliff” deal passed by the Senate early Tuesday morning — and to prepare to extract concessions from Democrats in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.

If the House fails to pass the deal, Graham told Fox News, “We’re going to get blamed and about two weeks into this, we’ll fold like a cheap suit.” Instead, he urged Republicans, “Work with me and others never to raise the debt ceiling again unless we address why we’re in so much debt.” Graham made a similar comment to the National Review, saying, “It’s not all I would have liked, but it’s called American democracy, so on to the debt ceiling.”

And on Twitter, he wrote, ”The debt ceiling fight is where we can make major spending changes and prevent the country from becoming Greece.”

Graham is up for reelection in 2014, and he could face a tough primary challenge from the right. He’s clearly seeking to make the case to conservatives that Tuesday morning’s vote doesn’t mean caving on spending.

Shut up, Lindsey. If my R Congresscritter votes for this turd of a deal I’ll spend the next two years campaigning for his opponent, regardless of party.

Doesn’t matter even if R’s stand up on the debt ceiling.

The tipping point was passed years ago and no one has the courage to inflict the pain necessary to avoid a fiscal collapse. It’s all about stalling now.

Young people hardest hit, for reals.

Lil Lindsy is a politicomasochist. He enjoys being abused by democrats.

So let’s recap:

In exchange for increased taxes and spending the Republicans get to sit and listen to Mr Obama call them naves.

I think that’s just about as good a deal as they can expect. I’d take it.

Bottom line, Graham and most of his Senate Republican colleague's voted for major tax increases and more spending. Regardless of what happens, the media will blame anything bad on Republicans. Now, the Republican Party will own the certain economic decline, unless by some fluke, enough Republican House members see the light and remember who they are.

How about vote ‘no’ and start over? Waiting for the debt ceiling debate takes too long and is a waste of time. The moment is now. (Pssssst - that’s why they call it a cliff.)

Yup, STFU Lindsay! The Senate bill massively increases gov’t spending and fiscal deficits.

What is the news media’s stupid “fiscal cliff”?

What is so different now from previous yea4r, that the country will go over a cliff ?

the news media came up with this “fiscal cliff” bs and people think the Earth with be hit by a meteor of something if the Republicans don’t surrender to some stupid bills. ridiculous. no one questions the media and just accept the false reality the media create.
