NYC Mayor Bloomberg is behind a secret cabal of neighborhood spies who run around convincing tenants and landlords to disallow all smoking by tenants, even within their own apartments.
The community spy groups get a $10,000 bounty for their efforts. The bounty is coming out of a grant, in other words, our tax money.
This is ripe for corruption to say nothing about the whole stealth factor being unethical, sneaky, and communistic. It pits neighbor against neighbor and it demonizes people.
But don’t worry, it is for the common good.
I’ve never smoked in my life and I don’t like being around cigarettes, but what right does anyone have to tell someone what they can do in their own home? Did our Bill of Rights disappear? Can’t Mayor Bloomberg look up our inherent rights on the Internet?
Did anyone doubt the government would enter our homes? Seriously, did you doubt it?
In mid-November, the New York Times reported that more landlords are demanding that new renters promise not to smoke in their homes. Most are grandfathering in present tenants.
Kenbar Management’s new project at 1510 Lexington Avenue which opened this month bans smoking in all 298 units, in addition to private and shared terraces. You can’t even smoke outside, not even on the sidewalk around the building. You would think smokers were spreading sarin gas. Actually the leftist PR is great and they make smoking sound as dangerous.
The NYC Health Department produced a study that indicates 57% of new tenants might possibly have been exposed to secondhand smoke. That’s a study you can hang your hat on.
Kenbar is a private company and can do what they want but the government doing it is something altogether different. They want to intrude on our personal lives, especially now that they have put themselves in charge of our healthcare.
Public housing throughout the country is being encouraged to ban smoking and they are doing it.
Laws are being passed against smoking. For example, all apartments and condos in Richmond, California must ban smoking by law.
San Francisco has banned smoking but won’t extend the ban to pot.
Marijuana has been legalized in two states and is ignored in others while smoking is verboten. The fact that marijuana is a gateway drug is meaningless to the leftists.
Disney banned smoking in film which is rich since no one is talking about banning vulgar and violent movies and video games.
The Pentagon has been considering a ban on smoking by soldiers.
The left bans what they don’t like and the rest of us have no say in the matter. Is this really what people want? What will they ban next? The fact that many on the far left hate Conservatives, Republicans, Christians, religion, morality, salt, sugar, McDonald’s, baby formula, fuel oil and gas, et al should send shivers down your spine.
I don’t like being in the position of supporting smoking and I certainly don’t want to promote it but telling people what they can do in their own home is just wrong.

Thank you for the reply JRandF :)
But, last year (well 2013, so now more than 2 years ago), my father passed away. He had stopped smoking about 20 years earlier... Doc said that if he had stopped about 2 more years earlier, it may have not happened..
(Like they could break it into a timeline.. but, makes sense anyway).
Was able to stop, for about 6 months.. then, like an idiot, I started again.. now, it’s my only stress relief :/ (bad excuse.. and bad staple)...
When I was back in the states, I was able to stop, no problem by eating sunflower seeds.. it was the only thing that kept me from cigs.. There ARE no sunflower seeds here :/ (can buy them in a pet shop, bit bit expensive, but they are usually soggy and ruined :/).
Anyway, sorry about that.. just felt I needed to explain :(
Brighter Note:
Happy New Year to you and your family :)
BTW.. the Last thing I remember buying from Sam’s Club was a 5 gallon bucket of David Sunflower Seeds >.< :p

Wanna know how to make the snitches think at LEAST twice before ratting out their neighbors for money?
Rearrange their facial features when they do. And make sure they know it will happen each time they decide to tattle in the future.
Perhaps even publish a chart. Second rat-out, 1 broken leg. Third time, BOTH legs broken. Give them the option of a baseball bat or sledge hammer. Variety IS the spice of life!
Wow, I bet they never saw that coming.
SUCKERS!
What? Is Bloomie in competition with Brown (CA) for the most idiotic laws?
I just finished Agenda 21, and am not ready for Telescreens.
Oh I forgot, telescreens are from 1984.
I shall live to the full extent of my abilities, for as long as I last.
Dad's last meal, 9 years ago, come February, was half a donut, a cup of coffee and "let me have a drag off that cigarette". I could do much worse than that.
Your mileage may vary. 明けましておめでとうございます

I like the way you think. It’s way past time the enablers of petty tyrants started feeling some personal pain.
What is ironic, corn holing your fag buddy is OK because it is a private matter in your own residence but smoking is not. UNBELIEVABLE.
BTW folks, when the libs finally get the guns out of the hands of the free people, this type harrassment by the state will seem like childs play.
People who didn't smoke, didn't care, since it didn't affect them. Well, does government healthcare affect them? It's on that chain of taking away freedom.
Now, take away the guns. I think that one may be the one that brings chaos - one too many flaps of butterfly wings always brings chaos.
The Chaos theory is one small change happens and it has no effect, just like one flap of a butterfly wing means nothing. Another change happens and it's no more important than another butterfly wing flap. The changes keep happening and happening and finally there are enough butterfly flaps that one more is too many and an explosion happens - chaos is reached.
I think guns may be the last flap of the butterfly wing and people revolt bringing chaos.
Next step: the amount of air per breath will be standardized.
I don’t see this working.
It’s very stressful being a liberal.
This little man is insane and drunk on power.
If I lived in NYC, I would try to chew tobacco or dip snuff and would spit on the streets.
What you’re referring to is health department standards. But I agree that having a large “A” displayed outside a restaurant is deeply unattractive and stupid. In the old days, you simply walked into the restaurant and saw the rating posted. But Bloomberg is a health freak of the first order. I can’t wait for that sob to go...
Does this mean Bloomy is against pot smoking, too? Whatever will he do when they legalize medical marijuana? And what about when ADD people start arguing for the right to smoke tobacco in order to deal with their ADD-ness?
Will it be okay if I smoke my crack in my home?
No problemo.
