After a long day of fiscal cliff chaos, the House will finally hold a vote tonight on the fiscal cliff bill passed by the Senate early Tuesday.
The decision to hold an up-down vote virtually guarantees passage of the bill, which would extend the Bush tax hikes for households earning under $450,000. that the bill will pass.
For most of the day, House Republicans have said that they could not support the bill without spending cuts, but by Tuesday night it was clear that GOP leaders could not come up with the votes to pass an amendment to add those cuts.
The House Rules Committee announced that there will be a vote on the unamended Senate bill in the 9 p.m. hour. Check out all of the days developments below.

The lower payroll tax was temporary “tax holiday” - it is just going back to normal, sucks but we knew it wouldnt last.

some of us already realized that just by looking at his voting record and history. we didn’t buy the establishment kool-aid.
My congresscritter’s website has a promise he (Culberson) will not vote for it so hopefully he didn’t cave. My Senators (Cornyn & KBH), no surprise they voted for it.

I know....and it is so frustrating. But u have to point that out when speaking of the republicans. This bill stopped my taxes from going up but was just over talking to my neighbors...it will not stop her and her husbands from going up. However they knew when Obama won that that would be the case.
They will pay. They will be known as Benedict Arnolds the rest of their miserable lives. They know they have stolen our money and could have done something; but chose to fill their own pockets. Men and women, no, cowards and traitors, yes.

Anything can happen in the Washington Sausage Factory. But I am celebrating the positive news for me in the middle class, for now.
It amazes me that McConnell was able to make middle class tax rates PERMANENT when the republicans could not do it when they held all 3 branches during Bush-43.
