I had been wondering just that! The father is a dentist in Mexico, the mother is obviously a Mexican citizen by her name (Marisol)... so why is the baby born in the US? If there was a medical reason I’m sure it would have been mentioned in the article. Congress should act and stop this anchor baby business, but I won’t hold my breath waiting for it!
Yeah somehow I don’t think it was the intention of the 14th Amendment to cover the personal needs of a Mexican dentist.
It drives me crazy! I immigrated legally, went through the hoops, took 20 years to get my citizenship... I despise illegal/cheating aliens!
Every New Year for years now, I’ve been noticing the trend of “first baby born in the New Year” in various states or cities. The mother usually has a Hispanic name, is quoted “through an interpeter,” and no father is mentioned. At least there’s a father this time, but a Mexican dentist?
I also despise illegal/cheating aliens but unfortunately do to manipulations of our Constitution the Mexican dentist did nothing illegal. If you can get the expecting mom onto US soil and have her deliver the baby here (often at our expense) the kid is automatically rewarded with citizenship. We are the only county in the world to allow this.
