Eric Cantor Makes First Move to Unseat Boehner in 'Fiscal Cliff' Kabuki Theater
Breitbart ^ | 1/1/2013 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Posted on 01/02/2013 11:47:53 AM PST by Lazamataz

On Tuesday afternoon Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) publicly announced his opposition to the "fiscal cliff" deal that the Senate passed on Monday by a 89 to 8 vote. It's unclear if Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) was informed by his second in command of his plans prior to Tuesday's dramatic public announcement. Opposition to the Senate deal negotiated so publicly by Vice President Biden and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell seems to be growing by the minute among House Republicans as its details have been made public.

An analysis of the Senate "fiscal cliff" bill completed by the Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday revealed that rather than cut spending, the deal will add $4 trillion to the deficit over the next ten years.

Matthew Boyle reported at Breitbart that it includes $41 in tax increases for every $1 in spending cuts. The Senate deal looks more like an exercise in the traditional Washington practice of doling out pork rather than imposing austerity on a bloated federal budget. Numerous special interest groups have secured additional subsidies and tax credits in the Senate bill, including Hollywood, NASCAR, and the wind industry.

Cantor is doing this just to make sure there isn't any real conservative opposition to Cry'in John. GOP-E are masters at this.

Makes sense. Occams Razor and all.

Wanna see a Republican fight like a wounded grizzly bear? Watch him go after another Republican who challenges him from the Right.

Mitt Romney was a POWERFUL campaigner, until he cinched the nomination. Suddenly, all magick seemed to leave him.

Cause the “ leaders” of the republican party do not want a conservative leadership.
They all are making great money and do not care to rock the gravey boat.

Yes, but they probably had their own reasons for that

Don't trust Cantor either, but he's 10% better than Boehner. At least he doesn't cry.

And I don't think Cantor is an alcoholic, either.

Another one they had to pass to find out what is in it?

Keep in mind that any single senator could have objected when unanymous consent was asked to skip the reading of the bill before the vote was taken. What that means is that there isn't a single senator with any balls. ANY senator who allegedly opposed this crap, could have ground the rush to pass down to a halt so they could at least know what it was they were voting on.

The fact that no senator did, means they all wanted it to pass, and any votes in opposition were "free" votes that were meaningless in the real world.

Hopefully 80% of the FReepers understand this. They are all owned by the elites & not following the group you will be ousted the next election.

Anything coming out of D.C. is meaningless at this point. The whole place and process has been reduced to a farce and King Ogumbo rules completely unrestrained.

They have two days to “Draft” Alan West. He is a former Congressman, it is not necessary for the Speaker to be an elected Congressman, and he is the ONLY one I trust.

No thanks, Laz. Cantor carries the stench of Republican ‘leadership’.

At this point the only thing that will preserve my bond with the Republican Party is a Tea Party Speaker. I’m already off the reservation on candidates — it’s either conservatives or write-in from this point on.

Either the base wins, or else.

Here is who we desperately need.....Trey Gowdy, love him!

QUOTE
Congressman Trey Gowdy of South Carolina (R) — about the fiscal cliff bill (quote found in NYT) -

“I have read the bill and can’t find the spending cuts — even with an electron magnifying glass.... it’s part medicinal, part placebo, and part treating the symptoms but not the underlying pathology.”

- and the lemmings keep running toward and over the cliff.......

step aside and don’t get caught up in the rush. Let them pass.

When that has finished, and there are no more lemmings, we can pick up and practice human decency once more and in the process - re-institute the Constitution, the Bill Of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.

Don’t bother to dream. It only screws up your emotions. West was done in by his own party, the GOP. You think they’ll do a 180 and bring him back in a position of real power now?
