Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) said he saw three angels in the hospital when he awoke from a stroke-induced coma in an interview published Wednesday.
Kirk who had a stroke almost a year ago is set to walk up the U.S. Capitol buildings steps Thursday without any assistance.
Kirk told suburban-Chicagos The Daily Herald the angels asked him, You want to come with us?
No, Kirk responded. Ill hold off.
Doctors sent Kirk into a coma after he had a stroke Jan. 21, 2012 and they temporarily removed a 4-by-8 inch piece of his skull to help his brain heal, according to The Daily Herald.
He said he woke up and knew that hed come close to dying.
A thing goes off in your head that this is the end, Kirk told The Herald.
Though Kirk says he now considers himself a disabled American, his said his motivation to recover was fueled by his faith, family and getting back to the Capitol.
I kept imagining going back to work and the irreducible physical amount of effort I had to put in, Kirk told The Daily Herald.
He even memorized the route hell have to take inside the Capitol.

He is pro-abortion-no wonder he said no.
I doubt if they were angels from above. What a scumbag
Wow!!! I will take that angel ANY day!! LOL!!
Sorry Kirk. The Angels do not make the decisions.
Was one of them wearing a trenchcoat?
No matter what you think of this or him, please respect the will and determination it took for him to bring himself back to a new normalcy. I am proud to say he is my senator even as I know I will disagree with some of his decisions. I just wish he had climbed those stairs two days ago and voted that “no” he said he would have voted.
He’s a variation on the Scott Brown Republican, but that’s probably the best we can expect for IL and we should be glad to have him.
I’ve no problem wishing him well in his recovery. Also, if he didn’t make it back to the Senate we’d be down another vote.
RE: The Angels do not make the decisions.
And we know who can disguise himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14 ).

I for one wish him the best of health. And of course I dearly wish he would see the error of his ways in supporting the murder of babies.
Real Angels from God would not support what he supports.
I applaud Senator Kirk’s courage for acknowledging that he saw angels in a time when such beliefs are ridiculed, and I commend his strength in recovering from his stroke. He stated that his experience has given him much more compassion, and rather than cynically judging him perhaps we should not underestimate the Grace of God which through this experience may have opened his eyes to the evil of abortion and the sacredness of life.
Amen to that. God wishes no one go to hell, we bring it on ourselves. youtube is full of believable near-death experience videos. God is love.
Try to picture Michael Moore or Helen Thomas in that angel outfit. I’ll never see angels the same way again after that picture went through my head.
The experiences themselves are not new. I recall hearing firsthand the account of a man severely wounded in WWII who had a profound insight while comatose, but which led to his survival.
Mark Kirk would have to move considerably to the right to be a "Scott Brown Republican", even though Scott Brown is from an even more liberal state (most of downstate Illinois is represented by Republicans in Congress, whereas every single Mass. House district is represented by Dems)
For starters, Brown had a 50% rating from Planned Parenthood and was endorsed by the NRA. Kirk has a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood and is so liberal on guns that the Jim & Sarah Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence endorsed him over a liberal Chicago machine Democrat.
One would think that if he truly had such a visitation from angels sent by God, he would be repenting from his views on abortion, which is murder and condemned by God.
Or at least he would be so grateful for his new lease on life, he would not want to do anything to be unworthy of such grace.
He’s my senator too and regardless of his health, he is probably the most liberal republican senator and to the left of many democrat senators. Kirk, like Romney, is in the wrong party.
I fully expect him to change his political affiliation before his next election.
