Michelle Obama recently revealed that she and President Obama don’t give Christmas gifts to each other. They merely say, “We’re in Hawaii,” and that’s Christmas gift enough.
But actually the present is from taxpayers, and it’s an expensive one.
The total cost to taxpayers of Obama’s vacations to Hawaii since becoming president is likely in excess of $20 million, and possibly much, much more. During a time of budget deficits that threaten the nation’s security and its future, the Obamas have chosen to maintain a “family tradition” and vacation halfway around the world instead of finding far cheaper alternatives closer to home. …

Only a dictator would think to do something like that. Only a dictator would get away with it. And we still think calling our congressmen and signing petitions is going to affect our liberty.

I believe that he goes to Hawaii so that he doesn’t have to experience the “Cindy Sheehan” style of protesting during his time away from Washington. Much more of a deterrent for us conservatives to make it to Hawaii!
I like to think of it as a special stimulus program for the State of Hawai’i (sarc)
While I believe that Obama believes that he is a demi-dictator able to pick and choose what he wants to do and order done, I do not think that the underlying problem that causes such an egregious flaunting of propriety in the midst of a terrible recession is that.
Obama’s voters fall into a couple of categories: his ‘people’ - the same people that cheered when OJ was declared not guilty in his criminal trial, and the people that hate anything conservative, anything associated with it, and more importantly, conservatives.
Both groups get off on seeing him pissing us off and the media ignoring it. They live and enjoy revenge vicariously through him. He might as well be dressed in parachute pants, gold teeth, gold bling and showing us his “Crib” on MTV for cripes sake.
As long as the one group can suffer in their misery content in conservatives being apoplectic and the other group can revel in ‘whitey’ being pissed and the ‘brutha’ gettin over on him, then all’s well. Both groups still have their ObamaPhones, their EBTs, their EITC, their SNAP, their Section 8, their WICs, their Pell Grants, their heating assistance, their electricity assistance, their weekly visits to the stupid-white-Christian-food banks, and dozens of other programs with which to drown their sorrows.
And finally, the more functionally ideological of their groups can enjoy their newfound renewal of events that will allow them to further erase our freedoms by erasing (attempting to) the second amendment and wholesale public condemnation of anything and anyone ‘gun’....
No one evers seems to ask them why not go to Chicago where their house is. Is it vacant? At least there, they would be around a lot more of Holder's people, you'd think the Mooch would prefer that. Hawaii does not have all that many, but then, they do not mingle.
