"What I worry about are guns that fall into the wrong hands," said Beck, "guns that are excess and become unwanted in a home.

What crap.
1. Guns are more likely to "fall into the wrong hands" when lame-brain newspapers publish where they can be found to be targeted for theft, and
2. No rifle that costs a person $2K is going to "become unwanted in a home".
Sheesh - you make it sound like a hampster bought for a child...

That guy is an example of the worst kind of public “servant.”

You have never seen what an ignorant wife or widow woman will do to get rid extremely valuable guns!

One of my friends went very early to a garage sale a few years back. There he found an almost new Browning .32 auto. He asked the widow what she wanted for it and she said she wanted what her husband had paid for it back in 1940. $15.00.

So he got a new Browning pistol for $15.00. What is interesting is that $15.00 gun saved his neck before the day was over when he was threatened by someone else. Just having the pistol diffused the situation.
