Historically, the second worst record of job creation.

For jobs, the past four years have been a wash. The December jobs figures out today indicate that there were 725,000 more jobs in the private sector than at the end of 2008 - and 697,000 fewer government jobs. That works into a private-sector gain of 0.6 percent, and a government sector decline of 3.1 percent.
In total, the number of people with jobs is up by 28,000, or 0.02 percent.
How does that compare? It is by far the largest four-year decline in government employment since the 1944-48 term. That decline was caused by the end of World War II; this one was caused largely by budget limitations. The only other post-1948 four-year drop was during Ronald Reagan's first term, when government employment fell 0.6 percent.
Going back to Dwight Eisenhower, there have been only two administrations that turned in a worse performance in private-sector job growth. There were small declines in Eisenhower's first term and in George W. Bush's first term. Mr. Bush's second term posted a scant 1.1 percent gain in private-sector employment - a gain that was wiped out during the first two months of 2009.
Over all, Mr. Obama's first four years narrowly - and preliminarily - escaped being the second four-year presidential term since World War II to suffer net job losses. The first was George W. Bush's first term. The average monthly job creation in 2012 was 150,000. That is the best one year performance during Obama's first term.

More people probably entered the job force than retired so the stat should be far worse.
Someone should come out with the number of Americans there are between the ages of 18 and 65 and how many of them have jobs. That would give a more accurate employment/unemployment figure. It would also tell us how many people are on the dole so that won’t happen!

It takes the taxes from 100 private sector jobs to support one public sector job. Every government worker is a serious drain on the economy.

What about the QUALITY of the JOBS. They never mention this.
I wonder how many people used to have jobs paying 50-60K+ and are now working a couple of part time minimum wage jobs.
Food stamp usage is approaching 50 million and they keep trying to hype the economy. B.S.

That’s right; the pay for new jobs has been adjusted down to the “new normal” (to meet rising Asian pay levels).
I’m convinced now that many people were resigned to never having the job market we used to have, and voted for Obama because it will be easier to sit on the dole with him in office than with Romney.

Unfortunately many Americans can’t think for themselves, they need to be told what to think. And the elite that run the media sure aren’t going to help them arrive at reality.

The media’s burying of this story put Obama in the White House for four more years, and I can’t believe enough people couldn’t see this with their own eyes. My own take on the economy is based on my own (limited) observations, but they’ve been borne out over time; I didn’t need Rush Limbaugh to tell me the economy was worsening. Anybody who buys anything (even if they buy it with food stamps) can see the unreported inflation everywhere, and anyone I know personally who lost a job that found another is making less money (even if they’re doing the same thing). It appears that companies within the same fields are simply swapping employees to drive down compensation levels.
This is just a foreshadowing of much worse to come, and people that can make changes should be doing it now. Unfortunately, too many Americans have taken that to mean no more breeding, and that is having disastrous demographic consequences (as evidenced by the re-election of President Foodstamps - including running ads in Mexico for the American food stamp program).
It is a frightening thing to witness...
