PORTLAND, Ore. – For more than two years, the only image the public has had of the man accused of plotting to detonate an 1,800-pound bomb at a Portland Christmas tree-lighting ceremony is this: A sullen-faced, sunken-eyed terrorism suspect in a mug shot taken just hours after his arrest.

Mohamud pushed a button on a cellphone that he thought would set off a bomb placed in a van and kill thousands.

Teenager or not he tried to kill many Americans at a Christmas-tree lighting ceremony.

I’m not a big fan of this kind of sting (Too many things can go wrong) but they only catch the stupid.

Its like they say. The best way to spot the fed among the militia members is to find the guy with the explosives.

Mohamed Mohamud's family emigrated from Mogadishu, Somalia, where he was born in 1991.

Bringing Somalis here was a stupid idea.

Possibly so but many terrorist murderers are stupid and their victims are just as dead.

The “lured into it” defense won’t work. Entrapment won’t pass as a defense if the accused is already inclined to the crime. In this case we have Muslim who openly advocated violence against non-Muslims.

I agree...This young terrorist wanted to kill Americans and the entrapment defense is not going to fly.

Frankly,I am a big fan of this type of sting.

All the stupid people (criminals) need to be caught before they act,and if LEOs can possibly stop them before they actually kill or maim their intended victims, so much the better for humanity.

Wannabe terrorists, rapists, anarchists, etc are not the people I care to waste my compassion on.
