FBI reveals surveillance of 60 minutes correspondent Mike Wallace, who was accused of being a communist

The FBI files include an investigation of a threatening letter sent to Wallace by a World War II veteran titled 'Communist Control of the Press'

In the summer of 1970, Wallace and late '60 Minutes' creator Don Hewitt took a trip to Cuba, which the FBI kept tabs on

Wallace was not discovered to be a communist

The U.S. Federal Investigation Bureau released records it was keeping on celebrated journalist and late ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent Mike Wallace, who died on April 7, 2012, at the age of 93.

The files include a look into whether Wallace was involved in communist activities as well as an investigation of a threatening letter sent to him by an emotionally disturbed World War II veteran titled 'Communist Control of the Press.'

Wallace, late '60 Minutes' creator Don Hewitt and three others took a trip to Cuba in the summer of 1970 to document the country, according to the files.

The group departed from Mexico with 22 pieces of luggage weighing about 770 pounds and returned with 26 pieces of luggage weighing about 904 pounds. An educated guess would be Cuban cigars, other souvenirs or additional camera tape from the embargoed island.

Wallace, who was 52 at the time, was not discovered to be a communist member or sympathizer.

A separate investigation into a bizarre and threatening letter from April 4, 1977, identified the sender as Donald P. Hale -- a disabled World War II veteran and a former prisoner of war.

'I have solid proof that you are a pro-communist anti-American traitor,' the letter reads.

'I have solid proof that you are a pro-communist anti-American traitor,' the letter reads.

So do I. And all I had to do was turn on the television.

Nowadays the FBI turns a blind eye to the communists. The astrology charts all say communism is good, its predicted by the astral lineup and cannot be dismissed, its inevitable.

Back when being a communist was a bad thing, not a requirement for serving in the federal apparatus.

Hell they might want to look at the entire main stream media today...they are all communists and some even admit it. A large number of democrats in congress are communists including almost all of the black caucus. Alan West called them out before being hit with a media frenzy denying it.

I am sure the FBI is spending many hours checking on the Communist tendencies of the Press and prominent Washington officials. I’d like to suggest they keep a running check on presidential candidates, before they are elected, as well as Cabinet appointees and elected leaders.

Probably too busy though, checking on Muslim Brotherhood./s

Look into “Red Channels”, published in 1950. All about Communist infiltration of the new medium of TV.

Sounds dated, but it really isn’t. Commies of today have no more USSR to be loyal to, but that’s the only difference. They want to be the new power elite, QED.

That's right. Today, they see people who believe in God and the Constitution as a threat.

Only Russians are communists.

“Sounds dated, but it really isn’t. Commies of today have no more USSR to be loyal to,”

Maybe it was not the USSR. There used to be a Comintern, until Stalin dissolved it. Maybe he only seemed to do so, as disinformatzia. Then, it continued to operate, subverting the US from within....
