The Californian picked to lead congressional Democrats´ efforts on gun control says the positions held by some gun rights advocates are unnecessarily divisive, and that government action should go beyond simply outlawing certain weapons. "I think assault weapons are a pox on the home of every gun owner," Rep. Mike Thompson said Saturday on CNN. "I think that´s the thing that´s going to cause the overwhelming majority of people in this country who aren´t gun owners to have negative feelings about those of us who are gun owners." Thompson is a gun owner and hunter himself,

From the article:

Thompson said all sides should be at the table, "but you're not going to solve this issue by arming every school teacher or every principal."

Actually Mr. Thompson, that is the only real solution to this particular problem.....

It's enough for a schoolboy to be suspended and removed from school. This guy is "pointing" and should be arrested.

"I think assault weapons are a pox on the home of every gun owner," Rep. Mike Thompson said

No sir, the pox on every Home owner is taxes, created by a "Representative". What a joke that term has become.

Yep - never call it by its true name (Great Society=socialism/Gun Control=slavery of the People/Affordable Care Act=slavery and legal euthanasia of the People, etc.). They always come up with these altruistic titles for the most fascist pogroms.

Maybe we can have a contest and rename a few hundred government pogroms to what they really do to the People - anybody have a Congress critter/Senator who would read them on the floor during a televised session?

I sent scathing emails to my Congressman (who voted against the fiscal cliff deal but needs to be on notice that being a Republican entails a host of responsibilities to the constituents) and to my Senator, who voted for the atrocity and needs to know that along with leaving the Party, I'll actively try to undermine his return next election.

I like reading the comments at the original posting site about stories like these. "Ban Concealed Carry on a National Level", "The authorities need to take guns away from gun owners, tough luck NRA" etc.

I would like to ask all the elitist libs to put their money were their mouth is and ask, no demand to be the spear point on house to house gun confiscation. Take a break from the your union organizing job or college professorship, put on some Kevlar, grab a shotgun and go house to house under police authority. Why put the average cop in danger all time? Get a taste of what your Bull S--t is all about.

Talk is cheap, libs, while sitting at Caribou Coffee in front of a cozy fireplace. We are waiting for you.

“I think assault weapons are a pox on the home of every gun owner,” Rep. Mike Thompson said Saturday on CNN. “I think that´s the thing that´s going to cause the overwhelming majority of people in this country who aren’t gun owners to have negative feelings about those of us who are gun owners.”

I’m really trying to have some concern about what the ‘overwhelming majority’ of non-gun-owners think...

Nope. Don’t feel it. I really don’t give two hoots in Hell what ANYONE else thinks; whether they choose to own firearms or not. And this bozo hasn’t got a clue.

A pox? Assault weapons? Ban them? Molon Labe...

Americans who desire liberty are "divisive."

Tells you everything you need to know about today's 'Rat Party.

That’s right. Gun owners are being needlessly divisive, and shouldn’t complain about turning in their guns or registration. This is an annoyance, just like the the Jews that complained about the Nuremberg racial laws.
The Left has identified their scapegoat for slaughter, and now we need to STFU. Boy, these guys are really asking for it. I do think that some of these gun grabbers actually want to be real martyrs to advance their tyranny.
In 1938, a young Jewish resistor assassinated a Nazi diplomat in Paris. This was the proximate event that the Nazis used to unleash Kristallnacht.

“Thompson is a gun owner and hunter himself,”

Oh gee, another “Golfer with a Gun”

We have these same morons in my club. “Shotguns are fine, it’s you nasty people with those black rifles causing all the trouble”.

They throw fellow gunowners over the side hoping to be eaten last.

Liberals lie first to themselves, and then to everyone else. The meaning of words to a liberal is malleable and plastic. Yet, he who controls the meaning of words controls the outcome of a debate.

So we come to a political definition of a particular type of firearm, the “assault weapon”. Just what exactly, is an “assault weapon”. The last time that it was defined in law, it was defined by its cosmetic features. So, the definition in the eyes of those who call every black gun with a lot of accessories an “assault weapon” is ideological, and not functional.

But the Second Amendment is about capability, not cosmetic features. It is about making sure the citizen had the right to keep and bear the means by which he could oppose an oppressive State, like the one we are close to having now.

And if we allow that State to blunt our means to oppose it, we are doomed. The self-funding Leviathan State will have secured us in debt-serfdom.

I noticed a recent news story that Florida has issued its one millionth concealed carry permit.

The last election had its “they are going to take our lady parts” voter. A million CCW holders win a key electoral college state is a voting block that can make or break a future presidential candidate.
