Lou Holtz is a very decent man. However no Catholic can ever forget that Notre Dame invited the vicious vile pro abortion Obama not only to speak at their graduation but conferred an honorary degree. They can win all the football titles possible from now to the crack of doom, but their honor can never be restored.

I know there are some on FR that are anti-Cathloic, but this sounds good to me. I am catholic, lower-case 'c', an Episcopalian, probably to be Anglican, or maybe in the future a Catholic. I do not like faggot priests, female priests, same sex marriage, and a lot of the other tripe being sold at my Church these days. I have been a catholic Protestant all my life, but I now protest too much against my own church.

I may be coming home to the Roman Catholic Church after all these years since Martin Luther.

Hey, lets take what we can get regardless if this is Catholic or not. Any message urging a deeper commitment to Jesus Christ, even from a little squirt like Lou Holtz, works for me.

It appears that the media campaign is OK. It would be far more effective, if it addressed reasons why they left - and if they are churched now or not.

I’m no Catholic and I know Catholicism has it’s share of challenges, but I found Lew Holz’s hopeful message refreshing amidst all of the other crap on TV. Good for him.

Lou's a true gentle-man, and a "real" Catholic. I was fortunate to sit in on my husband's interview with Lou when he was still head coach at Notre Dame. And speaking of Catholicism and Notre Dame...

I prefer having a personal relationship with my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, rather than being a “religionist”.

I’ll come home to Holy Mother Church when the last homosexual priest is laicized.

The sweet irony of it all is that the most well-known Catholic cable channel is broadcasted from, of all places, AL.

Once again Mr. Holtz is a decent man with whom few would quarrel. However you should get beyond nostalgia, remove the Irish blinders and recognize what has and continues to happen. Fr. Jenkins not only invited the vile abortion promoting Obama to Notre Dame, conferred an honorary degree, celebrated him in his introduction, and in a mean spirited manner tormented the people who protested the nonsense. Fr. Jenkins by his vows and the position he holds, is a Catholic leader and educator of the young. His actions were not only inconsistent with that role but were abhorrent and harmful. Yet he remains the leader and president of Notre Dame. All those “good people” continue to serve under him without protest. There is a unwashed stain on Notre Dame which has forever corroded its reputation. Give it a rest? Until Notre Dame removes Jenkins and apologizes sincerely for its actions, they have bought into the carnage that Obama actually celebrates. Frankly when a candidate comes before me these days ballyhooing their unabashed pride and nostalgia for Notre Dame, immediately an apparent character defect is identified, and the next applicant is promptly considered.
