Germany's new national firearms registry shows there are 5.5 million guns in legal circulation in the country.

Just by coincidence no doubt, Germany has one of Europe's lowest rates of violent crime. Neighboring Luxembourg, which has no legal gun ownership, has one of Europe's highest rates of violent crime. Like I say, just a coincidence no doubt.

I’ve spent a number of years living in Germany, and there are some simple observations to make.

Large cities in Germany....don’t have a major drug trend...like Atlanta, or Dallas, or Philly. Meth has only begun to be seen in use around the country.

Cops in Germany work as a national organization. You don’t have turf battles brewing from city to city or state to state.

Judges and prosecutors don’t work up deals that much. If you’ve done a serious crime....you tend to do the real time. If you used a weapon in the crime....you just added at least two more years onto your sentence....even if you didn’t fire the gun.

From most cities in Germany, I’d be willing to walk around at 11PM at night and not worry about any assault (there are exceptions).
