One of the reasons that President Barack Obama and Speaker of the House John Boehner had difficulty agreeing to a "grand bargain" on deficit reduction and avoiding the "fiscal cliff" was that both men disagreed on the nature of the debt problem. Boehner believes that government spending is the problem while Obama believes the problem is the rising costs of health care, not government spending.
During those negotiations, Obama repeatedly told Boehner that "we don't have a spending problem," Boehner recalled in an interview with The Wall Street Journal's Stephen Moore.

The press simply got the quote wrong. What Obama really said was: “We don’t have a problem spending”.
“The only spending they seem to have a problem with is military spending, which theyd like to shift into welfare programs.”
The reason for that one learns by the extremely difficult, and quite senseless task of discussion with almost any of THEM is THEY believe if there were no military period there would never be war. ALL disagreements would be settled by sitting down at “THE TABLE”, and talking. One must imagine a wide eyed, sincere, but empty headed facial expression as that is read.
