The Redskins resurgence has District politicos once again talking about what it would take to relocate the team back inside the city limits. But Mayor Vincent C. Gray (D) today suggested there would have to be a controversial prerequisite to any stadium deal: a name change, or at least discussion of one.

vincent = “they will conquer.” Now the question is, is Gray in the nominative (subject) or the accusative (direct object)?
Many Hebrew names in the Vulgate are undeclined (Latin conveys meaning by word ending rather than word order) But with many Hebrew names, you have to figure out from context whether a name like Goliath is the subject or the object.
But actually, I think the name Vincent is from the present participle Vincens, “the conquering one.” It would be Vincentem in the accusative.
Thanks...
Weren’t ‘Seniors’ referred to as ‘Gray Panthers’ at one time?
Probably more of a ‘regional’ thing also.
Some names catch on and others don’t.
A lot depends on what part of country you are from or in also.
I left NY in Summer 1956@16, went to CA for Sr yr HS, quit and went in USN in 56 - whole Boot Camp company was from AZ, SO CA.
Well when ‘they’ were discussing going on liberty etc they referred to ‘going out and get some ....’, I was taken aback because ‘in my corner of the world’ that was part of the male equipment but on the West Coast it wasn’t... For a while I wondered what I had gotten myself into when ‘they’ suggested going on liberty.....
LOL. Funny story.
Being a gentleman and in mixed company, I had to go with the generic, cleaned up version.
The ‘old Sailor’ version - in proper company - is much more colorful, funnier and understandable.....<: <: <:
A gift from the late Myles Brand that keeps on giving. I know one school in North Dakota was coerced to change their name.
> The NCAA made most of their member institutions change their nicknames away from Native American names.
Don’t get me started. I have a special place in my bladder for Myles Brand; as university president, he wrecked my alma mater, Indiana University, before he went on to wreck the NCAA. It wasn’t the debasement of Bob Knight that made me mad. He took a school that had national standing in Chemistry, Music, Business and Medicine, and trashed it. My degree has less value thanks to him.
The whole “Native American” thing was just more of “Brand X.” If I recall, his wife was a professor of “women’s studies.”
He was the epitome of everything wrong with academia.
Fed-Ex Field is like 15 years old, and is a very modern stadium. By the time, the Redskins are looking for a new place to play he definately will not be the mayor, probably won’t even be alive. So, we really don’t have to worry about his requirements about what it will take to move the team back into the City.

Vince Gray is 70 years old.
Did you put your crack team of experts on that?
I *like* it!

Being from Indiana originally, since Bobby Knight was fired on 9/10/2000, I haven’t’ really wanted to watch IU Basketball since then. Kind of funny, if Coach Knight ran for POTUS, I would vote for him as soon as I could LOL. The zero tolerance policy developed by Myles was a sham and window washing.
I have a theory, I am sure the NCAA CEO position was a payoff to Brand to fire Knight, IMHO.
On Bloomington, when I was an undergrad at U. of Evansville, I took quite a few trips to Bloomington and to this day still like the town, politics aside.

If they are moving to DC, just make it —
