Missteps and setbacks impacting gun ban momentum as gun owners start to advance
Examiner ^ | David Codrea

n spite of Vice President Joe Biden’s threat in this morning’s gun grab task force meeting that “executive actions” are on the way, the legitimacy and survivability of such a move is by no means assured, as the gun ban juggernaut, reanimated following Sandy Hook, has encountered some unforeseen bumps in the road that have the potential of halting it in its tracks with no place to go that isn’t blocked.

A sign of gun owners responding in backlash.

This is how it goes when you try to pass laws in the heat of the moment. When large blocs of opposition crop up instantly, it scares them. It should.

Start by repealing the idiotic portions of the NFA ‘34 and GCA ‘68.

Starting with the “sporting” clause.

I’d repeal them both, in entirety. “Shall not be infringed.”

Stockman’s legislation, currently referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary, is now posted on the Library of Congress THOMAS legislative database, and has one co-sponsor at its introduction, Rep. Paul C. Broun of Georgia. (Go to the THOMAS link and select Stockman from the drop-down “Browse Bills by Sponsor” menu and select the “H.R. 35” link for all information, including the text of the bill.)

Good article.
He has the right idea - gun owners must stop cringing in the corner and go on offense, and insist that people be allowed to defend themselves, regardless where they happen to be.
Gun free zones" are just stupid - and any thinking person will agree.

I saw that bill in my search of gun-related registration and I'll be urging my Congress-crittter to support it.

I am not advocating action of any sort but as a practical person I have to wonder if the statists have thought this all through. The answer’s ‘No’ of course but it does reveal their pattern of thought as exemplified by withholding of tax, freezing of assets, no-fly lists and so forth. Bureaucratic tyranny comes (too) easy to them.

But this is a horse of an entirely different color and they seem determined to pick a fight with the wrong people at the wrong time and with too many of them.

Is this REALLY the issue they want to keep at the fore? Victory and defeat would not be marked by a gloating press conference or a smug editorial in a newspaper, and it would not involve enforcement by usury. This involves the pursuit and seizure of real, tangible things of value, the ownership of which just happen to be protected by a specific section of the Bill of Rights. And, oh by the way, they aren’t candlesticks or toothbrushes. They are firearms. It doesn’t take an Alex Jones or G. Gordon Liddy to have an entirely necessary conversation about posse comitatus in the context of whatever outrage Joe Biden et al attempt to foist on their fellow citizens.

2014 and 2016, Dems lose all gains. All 3 branches of govt, fed and state level turn red.

Even if all gun legislation fails, it is too late.

See the thread about larry klayman sueing them under the
laws about commitiee advice to the president.

They formed this group with Biden and met the next day
when they should have provided notice and made notes
of the meeting open to the public.

Obama plays fast and loose with the rules, he must be
stopped.

Well, Principle didn’t matter for a lot of people. In fact, We were told that it was the problem. That and ‘purity’.

I guess principles do matter afterall now that so many people in DC lack any.

Hey slow Joe, come and try to get my ammo. I’ll send it your way - one at a time. 300 meters is nothing for me to hit a human sized target center of mass.

Trust me on this:

The White House is getting ABSOLUTELY FLOODED by phone calls from Democrats in the House and Senate. The DO NOT WANT anything that looks like gun control. They know they are DEAD MEAT (politically, FBI) if anything gets instituted. They are back to being hated lobbyists, with their career in Congress OVER in 2014.

The bottom line is that any Dem that didn’t win by a 30+ point margin will be scared stool-less if they get on the wrong end of gun control. They know this, and they know this very well. They are NOT idiots.

What will happen is that the White House will have to back down from its talk, for the 2014 election will be the biggest WIPE-OUT of Democrats in history, if they get on the wrong side of gun control. The White House wants the House of Reps back - and they know FULL WELL that goal is HISTORY if they push gun control. For that reason they WILL back down - they have much bigger plans for this country than getting background checks at gun shows.

Gun control is a SETTLED ISSUE in this country as there are simply too many gun owners at this point for almost any politician to go against them.
