Noting Army flap, Marine Corps orders its spouses clubs to allow same-sex members

Marine Corps leaders have directed their legal teams to alert spouses clubs at all Marine bases to begin allowing same-sex spouses as members if those social groups want to continue operating on Marine installations, Marine officials confirmed to NBC News Wednesday evening.
In an all-hands memo to legal offices across the branch, the Marine commandant's Staff Judge Advocate warned against discrimination based on sexual orientation, and he specifically mentioned a controversial decision made last month by the officers' spouses club at the Army's Fort Bragg to deny access to the same-sex spouse of a female Army lieutenant.
NBC News reported Dec. 14 that Ashley Broadway, the newlywed wife of Lt. Col. Heather Mack, was blocked from joining the spouses club at Fort Bragg, N.C., sparking accusations from a national military spouses organization that Broadway was being blackballed only because she is a lesbian.
The Marine memo, issued Tuesday, described the Fort Bragg club’s stance as having “caused quite a stir” and added, “We do not want a story like this developing in our backyard,” confirmed Capt. Eric Flanagan, a Marine Corps spokesman.
“The order was pretty much using (the Fort Bragg events) as an example to clarify our policy,” Flanagan said. “We stated that the policy is to be non-discriminatory.
“We don’t control what (the spouses clubs) do. But they get support from the Marine Corps so that they can hold their meetings on base or at Department of Defense facilities. So, in order to do that, they do have to follow Marine Corp policies,” he added.

Maybe the military should just close the clubs and save money. I hear that the officers club don’t offer the same kind of fun that was available before the fake Tailhook “scandal.”
So........ since 99% of the married couples in the military are hetero, does that mean the lesbians are in a 99% male spouse’s club and the homosexuals are in a 99% female club?
All clubs are supposed to be self sufficient. This means that they don’t get any defense money but have to generate their own income. They are not supposed to make a profit.
Unless you are overseas the clubs are pretty much dead. Official functions keep them afloat.
The majority of military men have a civilian spouses and the majority of military females have military spouses.
The civilians spouses will have a greater need to get together since the military spouses already have a support system in place.
When I was an Air Force translator, I worked with the other services all the time. We used to tease each other about the superiority of our own branch.
Sorry Marines. You don’t deserve your leadership embarrassing you like this.
No one in the Marine Corps likes this. Everyone from the Comandant down to the the most junior Pvt hates this. But this is now the law of the land and they have to abide by it like it or not. The Marine Judge Advocate had no choice in the matter. That is the price we pay for civillian control of the military. The Marine Corps will continue to uphold it’s standards and remain the most combat effective force at the President’s disposal. I retired as a GySgt in 2007, and my son is a Sgt stationed at Camp Pendleton so I still have a good grasp on what is going on inside my beloved Corps. The Marine Corps will stay the Marine Corps. You can bet your ass 235 years of tradition will not be allowed to go to hell.
Exactly right, Gunny Sean. Marines are many things. Obedient to lawful orders is one of them. Don’t like that? Complain to your Congressman, not a Marine.

Perhaps. And believe me, I appreciate your response. But I’d be lying if I said this hasn’t changed my outlook towards our military. Accepting open faggotry (and embracing the evil), even under orders, I can never give it the high respect I once did. It’s the not the same institution I gave honor to all those years. The uniform is now debased.
As far as the military leadership that sided with that degenerate bastard in the Oval Office in pushing this depravity, I’m just sorry that each and every one of them weren’t felled by an enemy bullet long before rising in the ranks and inflicting this defilement of the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen.
Once again, this was shoved down our throats by the CIVILLIAN LEADERSHIP. The Commandant of the Marine Corps came out guns blazing against this. This has nothing to do with Marine Corps leadership. They had to follow the order as it is a LEGAL ORDER. End of story. Harp on the idiots in Congress and the Administration who made this happen, not the Marines who had no choice but to follow the order.
When you change one aspect so basic to human idenity, you change everything. Forcing out of the closet homos into herto social military groups will change the normal Marine human bonding and ethical process. Homos will expect and demand sexual perversion dominance. Sad. Already men are being homosexually raped in the military. With homo sex social dominance, it will get much worse.

Have you spent any time in the Marine Corps? If you have then you know our culture. If not then I will try to explain it to you.
The Marine Corps is what it is because unlike our sister services we revere our history and traditions. We have a culture that won’t allow us to let those that came before us down. A Marine’s greatest fear is that he may do something to dishonor the Corps. We are a warrior culture on steroids. Marines revel in the fact that we don’t have the biggest budget, or the latest equipment that the Army does. We love living in the field, deploying aboard ship, and deploying to the Worlds biggest shiiteholes. Marines will not allow the homo culture to destroy what the Marines that have come before us have built. The Marine Corps is very good at weeding out those that can’t hack it, and those who fail to uphold our high standards. The Marine Corps will come through this as we always do.

I was an FRG leader with the Army. We had a mandate, from the commander, that all of our members had to be card-carrying military DEPENDENTS.
There is a reason for this. Classified information was sometimes shared with our members. Things such as flight times, were not shared with FAMILY members, but only with FRG members.
The FRG also directs it’s members to resources that are only available to servicemembers and their dependents. We cannot help a girlfriend/mother/same-sex partner the way we can help a wife. JAG, ACS, TriCare, etc are not available to non-military dependents. We’re actually hindered by the RULES.
And I knew it was coming.
The day DADT was redacted, I told everyone here on FR that benefits would be demanded within a year.
On the record, I’m predicting that same-sex mates of servicemembers will have ID cards before this administration leaves office.

And I know for a fact that that little disgusting display was dealt with swiftly. That Marine will never pull a bullshiite stunt like that again. Not only did that idiot have to answer to his chain of command, but the Marines in his platoon made it known that they were not happy.
