J.C. Penney Co Inc (JCP.N) slid as much as 8 percent on Friday after UBS published a research note saying holiday quarter sales have likely been worse than expected and questioned the retailer's ability to roll out its new shops on schedule. -snip- UBS analyst Michael Binetti lowered his forecast for Penney's fiscal fourth quarter, which is still underway and includes the holiday period, and expects same-store sales to decline 28 percent, from an earlier projection of a 20 percent decline.

I sincerely hope that they are not paying Ron Johnson much for this enlightened leadership.

He took a company that was suffering from stagnation and has driven a stake through it’s heart. He should be forever removed from American business, forever. This kind of incompetence is rarely scene outside of a Democrat administration.

It also points to the continued death of the middle class mall and suburban experience in America. Which is the exact desire of O’Bumbler and his fascist followers.

I think the fact that they're not in malls has helped Kohls. I like being able to just drive right up to the store. Also I love that they have those registers in the front of the store because I hate having to hunt all over a store for a manned register.

To be honest, though, we now buy the vast majority of our clothing and home goods while we're doing our food shopping. Costco, BJ's, Target, and Walmart have most of the stuff we need.

I expect that the ‘experts’ missed the impact of the name change to Gay C Penny’s.

JC Penney decided to go after the much cooler liberal elites and dump the 'folks that brung 'em...'

General circulations newspapers did the same... decided to all go after 'the beautiful people' - few as they are... Oh well, bye bye JC Penney... don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Sigh... very little to do with Ellen and everything to do with Ron Johnson being an idiot.

Radical globalist corporate CEO’s are into a fad of sticking their fingers in the eyes of their customer base as if that model has worked so well for the news industry.

Starbucks sacrificed huge numbers of people by preaching radical politics. When this “first black president” Che fad passes and the socialist economy continues to melt down, it’s all down hill. Our family and friends will never go back there. We have totally replaced Starbucks with other coffee shops.

Smart and competent CEO’s avoid making themselves into the donkey’s butt.

Perhaps they should consider that their quality has dropped a lot but their prices sure haven’t?

it’s a a poorly done split screen. They didn’t want to actually pay to find real dwarfs to play the elves or spend money on a decent FX crew so this is what you get. I don’t think there is anything more nefarious than that.

Nice to see this happening to a business that refuses to listen to the people.

I won’t shop there until the company repents.

I really don’t mind them using Ellen as a spokesperson...what made me walk away was the overt appeal to practitioners of sodomy.

It’s multiple factors.

The gay sucking up is a big one. It’s just not family friendly no matter how it’s packaged. Turns off a huge amount of people that have many, many other comparable shopping options.

Second are the stores themselves. Many look old on the outside and inside. The majority are not renovated. It leads to upredictable shopping experiences, as ads give expectations the actual crummy old unremodeled store, doesn’t.

The whole store in a store concept can’t really catch on when the majority of stores aren’t yet set up this way.

Further their normal shoppers are not used to thinking of JCPenney as more of an “Amazon” type place bringing under its roof separate vendor stores.

It’s just a hodgepodge mess.

Is that Johnson? If so, I think I see what is going on. Looks a little ‘Anderson Cooper’, doesn’t he?

Over the holidays, I went in one not far from their headquarters - not the closest; perhaps second closest. Saw some stuff on display in the aisles that I wanted to check out for my wife. Couldn’t find the actual product. So signs as to where it might be located, and I couldn’t find it on any of the nearby racks. Left empty handed.
