Pledge of Allegiance complaint sends deputy to Geneva school

Geneva District 304 officials released a statement late Thursday morning explaining a parent used “language that is not typically heard in a school setting” in the library in front of a kindergarten class. School officials called police to “minimize the disruption,” according to the release.

Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Gengler said the parent was volunteering at the school during the time afternoon kindergarten students start their day and saying the pledge.

That evening, the same parent emailed school board members, administrators and some parents in the community, and also posted a message on Facebook, claiming Mill Creek students state the Pledge of Allegiance incorrectly, leaving out the word “liberty,” among other claims, according to district officials.

But, district officials deny that, and point out students also recite the school’s creed after the pledge. That creed promotes respect, following rules and trying your best, and is listed on the school’s website.

I am really confused now.... we send in armed guards/police to make sure the kids don’t say liberty but we won’t send guards/police in to keep nut case out? god help us....

The schools out here have been very conservative up until the superintendent Jacoby left. Things have been drifting leftward since so this is just probably some of the hope and change we should come to expect from our brave new world.

Let’s put this correctly...some nut volunteer at the school was directing kindergarten kids (not even regular school kids) to do the Pledge...in a incorrect fashion, and the ‘language’ comment probably meant some cussing (who knows). Normally, a school principal or the football coach would have been called down...and walked the person out.

I suspect everyone is fearful now, and calling the cops is plan A on everyone’s checklist. You can imagine the cop writing this report up, and trying to figure out what law was broken.
