Action Alert: Whether the Semi-Auto Ban Passes May Depend on What Happens to the Senate Rules

McCain may be working to stab us in the back

Oppose the McCain package and support the Paul amendment

The Blaze reported recently that Vice President Joe Biden "guaranteed" to ailing Boston Mayor Tom Menino that sweeping gun control legislation would be passed by the end of January.

How sweeping?

A quick look at Feinstein's semi-auto ban legislation suggests that up to 75% of all handguns currently in circulation would be banned, along with as much as 50% of all long guns.

Depending on its configuration, the AR-15's already in circulation would be treated like machine guns. The owner would have to be fingerprinted, background checked by the FBI, and undergo a six-month license application process to keep it. And when he died, the government will seize it.

If the owner didn't get an NFA license, he could expect the SWAT teams to descend on his house. etc...

Won’t pass the House. Senate is irrelevant.

I think it depends more on what happens in the House of Represntatives.

If a million or two mostly armed citizens showed up on the DC mall and in their state capitols, I’m thinking that gun confiscation would go the way of the ERA amendment.

This will never stand.
It’s like saying you cannot sell the house or car you legally own.

Yeah. Just like Reagan’s gun ban of 85 didn’t stand.

House and senate are irrelevant. Zero will use EO. No one will stop him.

That’s what I’m trying to calculate right now.
Should I buy more ammo at inflated prices while it exists, or wait out the craze?
I had quite a bit before the boating accident which resulted in a total loss of my arsenal.
I think he’s going to have overplayed his hand if he goes the EO route.
Too many states will resist.

won’t matter, nobody is going to obey it. we all know it’s unconstitutioonal and therefore, void. as citizens we will have to take this stand.
further if you live in a state that protects this right, the state has an obligation to protect its citizens from unconstitutional fedgov laws, and fedgov will be in direct’conflict with their state constitutions and that doesn’t make them all/of a sudden void.

DC has very restrictive gu laws. If people showed up on the mall armed they would surely be mass arrests, and although they could not find a jail large enough to hold them all the fines would be severe.

Don’t get me wrong I like the idea, but I have a feeling the Army would meet us there it would be a trap.

Are you certain that the Army would enforce such an action?

I’m not.

I used the link at GOA and sent my Rep's an e-mail. Not sure if it will help, but it is better than doing nothing. Next step will be to vote for a new congress critter if mine will not protect the 2nd amendment.

Also, you assume that folks who would dare show up armed, would "let" themselves be arrested without trouble?

I think the bureaKaRATZ would find themselves outnumbered, pee their pants and "put off" mass arrests for "another day."

Don't get me wrong, they would take pictures and show up at people's houses one by one, like a good coward would.

I’ve been thinking about organizing an “open carry” day for those in states that allow open carry...perhaps April 15th.

Feedback?

I am not assuming anything.

I know during the riots of 68 the Nationa Guard was posted without bullets to guard the Nations Capitol. That was a joke. They just stood there and watched the looting.

That could be what would happen. The guard posted with no bullets. Something else that could happen is some idiot getting pushed and starting a hail of gunfire like Tianamen square. No I don’;t assume anything, but anyone who goes to DC with a million man crowd and a gun better be ready to lose his gun or open fire. It only takes one idiot on either side to make a bloodbath.
