If gun-free zones make people safe, then why don’t we declare the immediate vicinity of the President and Vice-President to be gun-free zones and send the Secret Service home? Or are gun-free zones good enough for our kids, but not good enough for our overlords? It is the height of arrogance and hypocrisy for politicians to surround themselves with armed guards while insisting that our children be soft targets.

There are 10 more days to get the required number of signatures on the petition

TOPICS: Crime/Corruption; Government; News/Current Events; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: guncontrol; secondamendment

If you sign expect to get a nice e-mail saying thanks for your suggestion, Bug off.

Then oddly, you’ll start getting fund raising emails for the rats.

Where in the US Constitution does it have a “petition” clause?

It is amazing what kind of crap the White House uses a government site for.

Not that I think these petitions are any use, but to answer your question:

Amendment 1: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Today, the 12th, is the biggest boost in sigs to this petition in the last few weeks... looks like more than 1000 sigs will be added in these 24 hours, putting it on an easy pace, if maintained, to get to 25k.

I hope you are right, but I think this is just a spike.

I have been trying to think of gun boards to post this on. Can you think of any?

Well, the spike is so striking compared to the last week that it makes me suspect somebody gave it some marketing in something active to cause it. Any gun board would have to be fairly busy... I’d think the best would be a gun or 2A group on facebook.

The office of president must be protected so as much as I dislike the Kenyan, I wouldn't sign such a petition. Let him have his protection. Let him live the hypocracy.

The petition illustrates the absurdity of gun-free zones.

You do understand the concept that Rush always talks about of illustrating absurdity by being absurd, right?

You do understand that the Alinskyites are killing us with Rules for Radicals #12, right now, right?

RULE 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

How do you suggest we fight back?

Be nice?

And "holding ourselves to a higher standard" is just the flip side of Rule 4: "Maker your enemy live up to his own book of rules."
