If you look only at the topline question it's a tie between Jordan and Pakistan. But don't look only at the topline question. Click around in the left sidebar at the link and watch how some of the numbers change as you get into specifics --- opinions of American democracy, American business, etc. When you get to American technology and scientific advances, even a near-majority of Pakistanis (47/27) have a favorable opinion. There's only one country where anti-Americans outnumber pro-Americans on every single question. Here's a hint: We're duty bound by treaty to come to their defense if they’re attacked.
While you're there, compare the numbers for “American ideas and customs” to the numbers for “American music, movies, and television.” Hmmm.
What this survey tells me is that we should just go bomb hell out of Jordan, Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey and we should take back every dime we ever gave those islamic bastages.
Where was Izrael in this poll?
Outside of the U.K. papers on occasion, nary a negative word about our imbecilic president is ever written or spoken in the European media.
The French have long been fans of America, Americans, and American culture.
We really ought to appreciate them for being the longest-term, allies we’ve had.
I don't believe in foreign aid in principle. What is the end game to supporting these regimes? In the case of Egypt, Turkey, and Pakistan, decades of aid have resulted in "election" of islamic dictatorships in every case. Not only are the people against the US, so is the government. They are all real strategic enemies of the US. Even the fellow NATO member state Turkey.
Jordan is an ally, but only as long as the current regime retains power, and their hold on power is very tenuous.
As Mark Steyn has pointed out the breeding masses of commited Muslims in the heart of Anatolia have swamped the secular Turks.
no Israel polling?
Surprising to see India so far down the list.
A good find. http://www.pewglobal.org/database/?indicator=6&mode=chart
Very odd that they included Japan, which showed the highest approval, but left out Israel,
It is interesting that Germany, France, Britain, the Czech Republic, Italy, Brazil, and Spain all have a greater % of people who have confidence in the U.S. President than those in the US. Part of which may be our critical nature,..
“We really ought to appreciate them for being the longest-term, allies weve had.”
Morocco is a strong contender for our longest-term ally. They were the first to recognize the U.S.(1777)and allowed American ships access to their ports. I believe our 1786 Treaty of Friendship is the longest running treaty in our history.
I’d say the Battle of Yorktown give the French first substantial dibs.
Maybe but likely it's because we have to live under what he's doing to us and we are, as a whole, not as socialist as many of those other countries.
A socialist WOULD think that another socialist is doing a good job and support him. Since there are likely fewer socialists here, we would of course not give him as high an approval rating and not have a lot of confidence in him.
Over 50 comments and no one has said WHY Turkey has an even lower opinion of various aspects of the US than people in Jordan or Pakistan.
