In the early, and later, days of the 2012 Republican primary, a steady stream of pundits kept a slow but steady chant of Christie, Christie, Christie humming along in the background, daring the popular Republican governor of a Democratic state to step up to the plate and run for national office. And though he played coy with his supporters, sending proxy messages while insisting that he was devoted to his work at home, the don of Jersey never took the final step, settling instead for a national role as a prominent Romney surrogate.
That was then, and to be honest, we liked the bombastic belligerent. He took on powerful and entrenched interests in his state, met fire with brimstone and appeared unafraid of any fight with any man. But since that day, weve seen a couple more press conferences, a few more temper tantrums and a lot more of Mr. Christie. Through it all, one thing has become clear: Mr. Christie will not be the Republican nominee for president in 2016.

“One of his four appointments to an advisory council on New Jersey-Muslim relations was the controversial Imam Mohammad Qatanani, who, TheDC reported, is facing deportation for trying to hide his ties to the Islamist terror group Hamas. This appointment followed other incidents that rightly or wrongly upset the more hawkish wing of the GOP, including calling Hamas member Mohammad Qatanani a friend; and appointing Sohail Mohammed to a superior judgeship, despite his history of defending an accused member of Hamas.”
That ain’t the half of it. He also said that Mosque at Ground Zero was a “local affair” while at the same time approving the firing of a NJ Transit Worker who burned a Koran ON HIS OWN TIME to protest the Ground Zero Mosque, calling it a “despicable act”. He also gave an address speech at a NJ Mosque on some major Muslim Holliday.
I LIVE in New Jersey. Since Christie took over, New Jersey has risen from SECOND FROM THE BOTTOM in business friendliness to SECOND FROM THE BOTTOM in business friendliness.
Further, there are THREE major union groups in New Jersey: general Civil Servants, Law -Enforcement, and Teacher.
The general Civil Service unions are the smallest and weakest group and the least egregious in their benefits, perks, etc. Christie bashed them a good one.
The Law Enforcement Unions, on the other hand are one of the WORST. In the past ten years and more, bill after bill after bill has been enacted in the Jersey legislature expanding their benefits more and more. After twenty years in Law Enforcement, they can retire at least with 50% of their salary. Since there is no college requirement to be a cop, they can conceivably retire with that salary at 40 years of age or less and go on to another career, often in some other branch of public service while drawing down generous benefits for the rest of their lives. He has done NOTHING to address this scandal.
The less said about those 9 month wonders, the New Jersey Teachers, the better. They STILL have basically the same great deal they had before he took office.
But then the Teachers Unions and Law Enforcement Unions, like the Trial Court Attorneys, the Construction Lobby and the Insurance Lobby, are the most powerful lobbies in Jersey, and Christie, like most loud mouth bullies, never goes after the elephant in the room.
I hope the writer of this piece is correct, but I never thought I would see a Muslim Marxist of questionable citizenship elected and re-elected to the Presidency of the United States. So in politics, very strange things DO happen.
And Christie DOES have the money. His brother is loaded and big moneyed New Jersey RINOs like Tom Kean Senior, back him,
Easy. Because he’s a sell-out to Obama. And he’s fat.
Aside from the fact Christie is a heart attack waiting to happen, the women who insist on government as Daddy will not have him.

“Why Chris Christie wont win the presidency in 2016
Becuase he is an arrogant, overweight, loudmouth windbag!!
This is an un-solvable problem. Conservatives, by nature, CANNOT be controlled and manipulated to do this. This includes conservative candidates and conservative voters. So while you're right, there is literally no solution to your conundrum by definition. And then there's the definition of conservative. Is a guy who is pro union, pro green movement, and pro establishment maneuvering, really a "conservative" simply because he has a nice family and talks a whole lot about social issues? And so on.
I retched, but voted for Romney; I won’t retch and won’t vote for the NJ tub of lard.
The more I see and hear about the millions of conservatives sitting out one election after another for a variety of reasons, the more I'm beginning to believe that many are perpetuating a myth. They/we live in fantasy land of wishful thinking and scared to death to face the truth. They/we are in denial as are those that still believe that whites are and will be the dominant race by large margins in the USA.
I think its time to face the truth in that millions that many thought sat out the race, just don't exist. The cavalry is not coming to the rescue folks 'cuz there just isn't any!!!
Political conservatism is on the way to join the dodo bird, compliments of the two political cartels.
Christie could play the Ned Beatty role in a remake of “Deliverence”. I can hear Obama saying, “Squeal like a pig”.
2004: Bush 62 million votes
2008: McCain 60 million votes
2012: Romney 61 million votes
Christie won’t even get re-elected in NJ or will have a hard time doing so. When Sandy is forgotten later this year (and it will be) the voters of NJ WILL return to their liberal programming and pull the lever for the “D.” Rather than vote “D-lite” they will go for the real thing. In my opinion it will be like the Mass Senate race where D-Lite Scott Brown could not even touch Faux-a-haintus. As soon as there is a democrat candidate Christie’s numbers will start to fall. Already the local news is playing up class warfare. The approach is “we tip our cap to him for his handling of Sandy buuuuut turning to other matters now like poverty and the increasing wealth gap, he has been a failure.”
You people will never understand.
Christie is the perfect RINO. He is able to speak out of both sides of his fat mouth and to support the leftest liberals with zeal. He is the perfect candidate for the next election if we have one.
Just like Romney, he has all ready been selected to run and will be groomed over the next 4 years for the next suicide mission by the GOP.
I almost wish conservatives could have a pre-primary. Get their candidate selected and unite behind that candidate.
McCain was unable—and probably unwilling—to win over the conservative vote, and Romney seems to have been only partially successful in doing so. However, it is the conservatives who man the phone banks and victory squads and walk the precincts. Unless Christie can find a way to win over the conservative vote, he will be no more successful than Romney and McCain.
Christie appears quite capable of utilizing two to great effect, so it's all good.
I don’t believe he could possibly win the Republican nomination regardles of how the nrc stacks the primaries or changes the rules.
Because his cow heart will never make it through the stressful campaign....a massive coronary waiting to happen.
And Democrats will never vote for Democrat-Lite over the real thing.
“cause there wont be an election?”
There will be an election but there’s a real possibility it’ll be for show purposes only. I’m not convinced our last election wasn’t for show.
