Former Secretary of State Colin Powell — who split with the Republican Party to endorse President Barack Obama two times — said Sunday there are some clearly racial elements within the GOP.
“There’s also a dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party,” Powell said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “What do I mean by that? What I mean by that is they still sort of look down on minorities.”
While not mentioning former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin or former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu by name, Powell referenced past comments from each about Obama as evidence of racism in the party.
“When I see a former governor say the president is ‘shuckin’ and jivin’,’ that’s a racial-era slave term,” Powell said. Palin used the term to describe Obama’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya.
“When I see another former governor after the president’s first debate where he didn’t do very well say that the president was ‘lazy,’” Powell continued. “He didn’t say he was slow, he was tired, he didn’t do so well, he said he was lazy. Now it may not mean anything to most Americans, but to those of us who are African Americans, the second word is “shiftless,” and then there’s a third word that goes along with it.”

“HE WAS A PHONEY ( POLITICIAN ) GENERAL FROM DAY ONE AND NEVER REALLY EVEN SAW ANY COMBAT IN HIS WHOLE CAREER.
HE SERVED AS AN ADVISOR TO A SMALL VIETNAMESE ARMY UNIT AS A JUNIOR OFFICER BEFORE THE WAR REALLY STARTED IN VIETNAM AND THAT WAS IT!
HE ONLY SERVED THERE A FEW MONTHS AND WENT BACK TO THE STATES BECAUSE OF A MINOR SKIN INFECTION HE GOT WHILE THERE ( SUPPOSEDLY FROM BEING INJURED BY A VIET CONG BOOBY TRAP MADE OUT OF SHARP BAMBOO STICKS ).
POWELL AND HIS DEPUTY SPENT MOST OF THEIR DAYS IN THE STATE DEPT. UNDERMINING GEORGE BUSH’S FOREIGN POLICY INSTEAD OF BEING A LOYAL CABINET MEMBER, AND THAT IS WHY HE WAS FORCED OUT!!!
HE IS A SNAKE OF THE HIGHEST ORDER AND IS OBVIOUSLY LOOKING FOR A NEW POSITION IN THE OBAMA PRESIDENCY SO HE CAN REHABILITATE HIS REPUTATION.
LIKE BIDEN, HE HAS BEEN WRONG ON MOST OF THE MAJOR ISSUES OF THE DAY; INCLUDING NOT SUPPORTING GOING INTO KUWAIT IN DESERT STORM, EVEN THOUGH HE FOUND HIMSELF HAVING TO DO SO AS THE CHAIRMEN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF, ONCE THE DECISION WAS MADE.

General Powell, you’ve done your duty but please shut your piehole about racism. Remember pal, it was a Republican president who made you the first person of color to head the Joint Chiefs of Staff and also the first Black to be Secretary of State, and not a “tolerant, open-minded” Democrat. I’m tired of this guy spouting off about the GOP being racist and intolerant. The sad fact is there is no reasoning with almost the entire Black population of this country. They’ve been bought and paid for by the Democratic Party and it’s that same party that keeps hindering their progress as a people by keeping a vast number of them dependent on government programs. No matter how we try to reach out to them they’ve been duped by the Dems into thinking we’re the ones keeping them down through our “racist” ideology. People like General Powell keep enforcing that stereotype.
The best analogy I can think of to compare this situation to is the movie the Poseidon Adventure. General Powell and other Black leaders plus their White overlords are leading Blacks to the wrong end of the ship and towards disaster. Our side is trying to lead them in another direction towards safety and freedom. Unfortunately our side doesn’t have a Gene Hackman type leader with real guts these days.
