Former Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell defended current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's handling of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, saying it could've happened under anyone's watch.
"I think she's had a distinguished record," Powell said in an interview on NBC's "Meet The Press" broadcast Sunday. "And I don't think that this one incident--which is one of these things that those of us in government have been through many, many times where suddenly an action happens late at night ... I don't think it's a blot on her record."
"You're surprised," Powell said of the Sept. 11, 2o12, attack that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens. "Somebody gets killed, something gets blown up. And then the after-action reports start and everybody wants to know who was at fault. Who was responsible? 'Why didn't you keep this from happening?' Well, you can't keep everything from happening.

If the RNC was more like the Vatican, this guy would have been excommunicated and expelled from the party a long time ago.
One could ask Powell how many ambassadors died on his watch...which was zero. He’d sort of grin and admit that was true, but you can’t compare one era against another era. Then you’d ask him if he had ever disapproved security at any ambassador’s residence, and he’d grin and admit no.
End of story.
You can get authority from the president for the military to cross the border and rescue them.
Instead of letting them die.
It isn’t so much that these 4 Americans died. Its that they died after being refused aid or support from the President of the United States.
Oh and that he put them in a dangerous situation in the first place without adequate security or defense.
You can’t keep everything from happening. True.
Gun crimes will still happen with gun control or bans.
Attacks can still happen on embassy guarded with guns and off site support ready to come to their aid..
But the outcomes are much different Powell.. You should know that by now.
Powell claims he is “still” a Republican, even after endorsing Obama twice.
Powell claims “There is a dark vein of intolerance” in the GOP.
David Gregory sets him up for several minutes of anti-Republican criticism.

Powell is nothing more than a left wing hack pretending to be a patriot and republican. The morons in the GOP still suck up to him because they think he gives them racial creds. Both are a danger to the republic
I spent a lot of my career working in embassies, some posh postings, others, not so much. Never did I for one minute doubt that if the enemy was storming the compound walls, they would react immediately. The closer one is to the water, the better the chance of a successful rescue operation. Benghazi is fairly close to the Med.

Can’t keep a COVER-UP from happening? And how about those 37 survivors??? Why no interviews or depositions?? WAS THE COMPOUND A PRISON AND THE SURVIVORS WERE PRISONERS, HMMMM?? Was 0bama’s CIA running a SECRET PRISON at Benghazi, against 0bama’s own policies hmmmmm???? Was Benghazi attacked for its prisoners to be freed?????
Colin wants Hillary to get a free pass like he did in the Mai Lai Massacre in Viet Nam. His Affirmative Action promotions put him in an insulated position so that he couldn’t be criticised because he was a Negro!
Did Gregory ask him why he has not changed parties? He stays as a pubbie so he can criticize as ‘one who knows’.
