Biden: W.H. readies 19 executive actions on guns By: Reid J. Epstein January 14, 2013 06:49 PM EST

The White House has identified 19 executive actions for President Barack Obama to move unilaterally on gun control, Vice President Joe Biden told a group of House Democrats on Monday, the administration’s first definitive statements about its response to last month’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Later this week, Obama will formally announce his proposals to reduce gun violence, which are expected to include renewal of the assault weapons ban, universal background checks and prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips. But Biden, who has been leading Obama’s task force on the response, spent two hours briefing a small group of sympathetic House Democrats on the road ahead in the latest White House outreach to invested groups.

The focus on executive orders is the result of the White House and other Democrats acknowledging the political difficulty of enacting any new gun legislation, a topic Biden did not address in Monday’s meeting.

“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).

But Biden did indicate that the remains of the Obama campaign apparatus may be activated in the effort.

“He said that this has been a real focus on the policy and that the politics of this issue, that a strategy on the politics of the issue hasn’t been undertaken yet,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told POLITICO. “He did remind us that the campaign infrastructure is still accessible.”

Wait, wait, wait! It’s Biden speaking, and being quoted and discussed in POLITICO. Come on guys! Only by luck is there one true word anywhere in that article! Biden couldn’t find his own azz with both hands and a mirror in an echo chamber! We cannot kneejerk react to anything POLITICO writes, esp when the subject is one of the biggest liars on the planet!

I voted for Romney..I didnt care for the guy but I still voted for him because I knew that the alternative was 10 million times worse. At least Romney loves America..Obama wants it gone..destroyed and he’s doing one hell of a job ensuring that happens..take away one freedom at a time before we ALL have no freedom left, just bow down and kiss Obama’s ring. I think in all of my life I have seen things as bad as they are right now..never imagined to see my country turn into what it has become

Excellent point. I have been saying the Republican party needs to get rid of RINOs since the primaries leading up to the 2008 election and that Romeny would not win because he is a flip flopper and basically a democrat himself.

Too bad you can’t ignore the fact that SOMEONE elected a bunch of compromising idiots that will not stand up and do their jobs. I wonder ...must have been democrats that voted for them.

Yes we are. Romney was at the bottom of my list, just ahead of Ron Paul. But he was the nominee and we had little choice — vote or stay home. Many voices said to stick with your principles, let Obama win, and Obama will lead to a conservative as Carter led to Reagan. The problem with that is in four more years of Obama there is no country left.

Why are any republicans waiting for that, they have enough on him to get him impeached even before he was re-elected.

I am convinced that only civil war, an uprising of ordinary citizens, will rid us of this evil cancer. We cannot rely on lawful means. All of our institutions have been corrupted and compromised. We the People must fight.

The slow death of creeping socialism has been happening for too long now to be able to turn it around.

"I think we all thought riots would happen when the economy collapsed. Perhaps we were wrong - perhaps stomping on our 2nd amendment rights begins the riots. As in, what happens if thousands/millions march against Washington with their fire arms? Hussein would call out some form of the military to put down the march. Would not the nation break down into riots when that happens?"

Maybe, but there is no sign that such a march is going to happen. The tea party movement, the NRA, GOA, etc. would need to organize such a drive and all of them are still trying to work within the system. We need a Martin Luther King type to rally everyone to surround the White House in the millions to stop the tyrant. Anything smaller will be put down and scattered resistance will just be used by Obama for further repression.

Well said. We have not lost, we have only begun to fight. I do not understand all the alarmists here and other forums, crying about “What he/they/Obama can do,or will do. They(the administration) can only do what we let them. Our people have bought enough firepower in the last two months to end this in days if the flame is fanned to fire.
No one guaranteed us that we would never have to have another Revolution back in 1776, in fact, we have gone much longer without one than many other countries. I have several kinfolk serving in the military and I am very close to calling them and telling them we have a constitution to defend here at home. They know what the score is, and they are on the right side, as is most of the rest of the military.
If the communists want to scrap, then let’s have it.

My bile level has finally reached flood stage, and my bullshit meter has broken it's needle. My self-enforced levee of human civility has been breached. Enough is e-gaddamn-nough! I do NOT suffer tyrants gladly.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

Bull Sh*t!

These “Patriots” somehow imagined that a low life Marxist was better than Romney. How in the hell can you defend this?!?!

Guess what, with Romney (as bad as he was) we would've had a chance. Thanks to these selfish “Real Patriots” the country is gone! Fu*k those 3-4 million who either didn't vote, or voted third party. They hold some responsibility for where we're at right now! They had more contempt for Romney than a Marxist! They are not Patriots...they are supremely selfish a-holes!

We voted for conservatives. Just look at what abandoning principle got you. A house filled with people refusing to stand up for the constitution.

As I said above...someone put them in office. So who is responsible? The people that stood on principle or the people that abandoned it to elect the very people selling the country down the river.

Simple deductive reasoning gets you the correct answer.

Or do you deny that putting compromises (AKA the unprincipled) in DC gave us this problem?

Let them. They can lie to themselves but anyone thinking rationally knows that Balless Reopublicans were not elected by Democrats. They were elected by “Win at all costs/to hell with conservatives” voters.

That is just a proven fact. And the truth hurts.
