The White House has identified 19 executive actions for President Barack Obama to move unilaterally on gun control, Vice President Joe Biden told a group of House Democrats on Monday, the administration’s first definitive statements about its response to last month’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Later this week, Obama will formally announce his proposals to reduce gun violence, which are expected to include renewal of the assault weapons ban, universal background checks and prohibition of high-capacity magazine clips. But Biden, who has been leading Obama’s task force on the response, spent two hours briefing a small group of sympathetic House Democrats on the road ahead in the latest White House outreach to invested groups.
The focus on executive orders is the result of the White House and other Democrats acknowledging the political difficulty of enacting any new gun legislation, a topic Biden did not address in Monday’s meeting.
“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).
But Biden did indicate that the remains of the Obama campaign apparatus may be activated in the effort.
“He said that this has been a real focus on the policy and that the politics of this issue, that a strategy on the politics of the issue hasn’t been undertaken yet,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told POLITICO. “He did remind us that the campaign infrastructure is still accessible.”

Agree. Not understanding those who thought it would be okay to let Obie in for another term. How in the world did they think giving the Rats a second bite at the apple was tolerable, as opposed to Romney. Not my fav, but it was anyone but Obama for me when I went to the polls. This does not bode well for anyone.
So the administration that made sure the drug cartels got plenty of assault weapons, now wants to make sure that law-abiding Americans can’t have semi-automatic guns or maybe even any guns?
No way. Anything the cartels can have - Americans should have. The Feds won’t protect our border or our citizens, then we have to have the right to defend ourselves against any drug dealer that might come our way not to mention other groups with grandiose tyrannical intent.

I agree. but you're forgetting to include those on our side (The True Patriots) who decided to either not vote, or voted third party, because they saw Romney as a bigger threat than Obama!

Yeah, I understand. I just emailed Rush today with an FYI about his advertising Freedom Works on his radio program. Tried to sign up months ago and couldn’t get past the Username selection. Tried again today and got the same message.
I finally found the time today to research it and turns out, they have a “bug” with Internet Explorer that causes an error message to display. When I switched to Mozilla Firefox browser, the signup process worked fine. Go figure.
That wasn’t the point. What I meant is that many people here on FR are very emotionally involved in this because they have guns or use them a lot, while I’m not that emotionally involved but regard it more as a matter of principle.
However, when I heard that would-be dictator arrogantly announce at his press conference that “He” was going to simply order measures, violating the Constitution in so many ways that it’s hard to know where to begin, I completely lost it. We have a serious, serious problem here, and he hasn’t even begun his second term.
