Arianna Huffington & Scarborough Claim: W.F. Buckley, Jr. Would Have Supported Hagel
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Who would you trust more to reflect how William F. Buckley, Jr. would have felt on an important issue of the day: the editors of the National Review--the magazine that WFB founded--or the combined wisdom of Arianna Huffington and Joe Scarborough? In an editorial published before Hagel's nomination became official, the Editors at National Review wrote: "Chuck Hagel is a very poor choice for the next secretary of defense," concluding that he was "definitively not the man who should be the next secretary of defense."

But on today's Morning Joe, when Huffington asked "don't you think William F. Buckley would be endorsing Chuck Hagel now?", Scarborough responded with an emphatic "yes!"

The ‘Progressives’ have this ongoing meme about how today’s Democrats are actually yesterdays Republicans. I’ve read that most Dems are actually Regan Republicans now.

As if anything a Greek goldigger who married a flaming fairy for his money should have anything to say about anything I would pay attention to.

Hagel will be more destructive to the American military than Field Marshall Rommel or Admiral Yamamoto

....or the combined wisdom of Arianna Huffington and Joe Scarborough....

The combined wisdom of Huffington and Scarborough, if quantified, would be an imaginary number.

It would not surprise me to find that Ms. faux-Huffington fancies herself a psychic medium as well as a pundit and therefore regularly carries on conversations with Saint William of Connecticut. Nevertheless, there is some hard truth to her assertion. Buckley was a hardliner during the Cold War and never wavered in his unflinching defense of Christendom against the Soviet scourge. As regards the WWWOT, on the other hand, he was much less stalwart and would have found some common ground with Hagel on the question of the appropriate degree of U.S. engagement in endless wars and nation building exercises in the M.E. He quite openly questioned the wisdom of Pres. Bush’s Iraq policy, for example. I doubt he would have openly supported Hagel, however, by virtue of the latter’s limp support for Israel and occasional exhibitions of latent antisemitism. For these sins he had no charity.

And the fact that Huffington flipped from TV conservative to
liberal bedwetter in a heartbeat boosts her credibility as well

As long as we’re channeling the dead, I’m sure Chester A. Arthur, Orville Redenbacher and the Emperor Nero would have supported Hagel too.

Yes, and I’m certain that Pope Leo XIII would have supported female priests.

Where does the Left- these People of the Lie go; to assume and to pretend their adherence to an American patriotism; moral values/principles as held in our Constitution?

They take their typical Leftist 'parasitical position' and hitch a ride and attach their antithetical message in the 'words of'; in the 'names of'; those valued Patriots in our history - old and new. Those personages; the Left otherwise; historically derides and denounces.

A blatant identity theft - and common practice of - an otherwise ignorant and empty Left.
