SAN ANTONIO -- A homeowner shot two men, killing one, when he heard someone breaking into his SUV.
It happened on Lightstone Drive near Stone Oak and Hardy Oak Boulevard shortly before 2 a.m. Police say the owner of a parked SUV heard someone attempting to break into it. That's when, according to police, he went outside and spotted someone inside his vehicle.
As he approached the vehicle the owner thought he spotted a gun. The SUV owner then fired at the suspect, hitting him one time in the upper torso. Police say the getaway driver then sped off. The SUV owner fired through the windshield killing the driver.

AWWW! A happy ending!
Anyone got a kleenex?
In Texas, ..."Yes officer, I shot those punks trying to steal my car." ... "Well you have a good evening"
Texas law is weird about that. But it's a weird I approve of.

Wow! Good shooting!
I don’t know if this homeowner was one, but there are a lot of active-duty and retired military men in San Antonio.
Hope the SUV is ok :)
“Don't mess with a Texan.”, instead of “Don't mess with Texas.”
We do have a law specifically allowing a person to use deadly force to protect their person and family and property.
Likely the SUV is a write off, with all the cleaning needed, and the stigma of driving a deathmobile.
Likely too, the deceased man will think twice before trying to steal another car.
No S@#t! I don't expect the obligatory, "Needs more time at the range" on this one.
I don't know how many shots it took to get two good hits. The story is vague on details.
Absolutely correct!
I love a happy ending, especially when the good guy also has a brain.
Likely too, the deceased man will think twice before trying to steal another car.
You missed some details. :o) The getaway driver was killed in his own car. The thief that was shot in the victims SUV is in stable condition after a shot to the torso after being caught red-handed. As long as there isn't blood all over the interior and the air bag didn't deploy, the SUV should be fine. I doubt the dead perp will be doing to much thinking anytime soon. At last report, he was approaching room temp and there were not neurons firing in the thought center.
In Maryland, he would be in court for the next 5 years ...
In Texas, ...”Yes officer, I shot those punks trying to steal my car.” ... “Well you have a good evening”
In New York, he would be a new SUV owner.
ooops, that should be:
In New York, the punk would be a new SUV owner.
God Bless Texas.....
not weird, it’s biblical.
thievery at night, lethal force can be used against, because you’re asleep, you don’t know if they’re armed, and you are dealing with someone with inherent ill intent, which could be murder and theft, or just murder but trying to be disguised as robbery went wrong.
same stuff during the day may not have allowed lethal force unless injury/life was threatened.
Sometimes you have to shoot up your SUV to save it...bwahahahaha.
The interesting thing is that punks just think they can rove around neighborhoods now and pick at random. No fear of getting caught...no fear of doing jail time....and no fear of someone reacting with a weapon. Total lack of common sense and disregard for the value of their own life. For this punk, some $100 radio or GPS was worth dying for. Even on the street...they probably would have gotten $30 max for their stolen property.
