Tonight's episode of "Amish Mafia" was devoted to attempting to defend the show against the critics who claim it is fake.
The cast were asked questions like "Are you really Amish?." "How can you be Amish and go to jail?" and "Why did you decide to do the show?"
Esther said she was "sick of how Amish communities are looked at. I'm sick of how we're portrayed, that we're all the same - these humble innocent people." She can be happy now, because no one who has watched the show thinks she is any of those things

My friend's goofy sister must be related to her somehow. "It can't be fake! It's a REALITY show!"
I saw a commercial for this over Christmas. I think the fact they don’t have beards is a givaway. Also there was a show about rednecks building an illegal still. I am supposed to believe that the network found these rednecks and paid them to do something illegal, and they film it for everyone to see?
Esther using jail house slang cracks me up too. She says Merlin is “Straight up crazy”.
One wonders how they plant their crops.

The real mafia must watch it for laughs.
Coming from a person who believes 100% in Ghost Adventures and The Dead Files I can say that show is as fake as a Hillary Clinton accent in a black church.
just go with: everything on TV is fake- everything. Especially “news” and “reality” shows
and you will not be wrong
(If it's not true, it can't be posted on the internet, you know)
exactly.
:p
I can believe the moonshine show because that culture has run as an open secret for over 100 years. Where moonshine is popular everybody knows who makes it, everybody knows the various qualities of the recipes (whose is strong, whose is smooth, who uses what base), they generally even know roughly whose still is where, and yet nobody ever seems to get caught. That’s what happens when everybody that lives in an area thinks a law is stupid, it doesn’t get enforced.
The really funny thing about this article is that its author is actually mixing it up with posters in the comments section.
“I saw part of this show once and am sorry I wasted 10 minutes of my life on it.”
I did the same; really stupid stuff.
“Soon the History Channel will be among them.”
I’m done with the History Channel; it stopped being about history years ago, and now devotes Christmastime and Easter to running shows questioning the authenticity of Jesus. Waiting for similar shows on Abraham, Mohammed, or Buddha...
I watch that occasionally. Probably the best part is whatever little story Jim Tom tells at the end.
I wonder if maybe “Moonshiner X” is actually Tickle’s long-lost older brother Rex? ;)
Yeah, I used to find the shows better, but now I barely even look at the schedule.
It was like watching a train wreak.
Well, obviously. You know what I mean.
