Speaking from Rome, U.S. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said the U.S. will take "all necessary and proper steps" in response to the attack and subsequent hostage crisis in Algeria.
Panetta called it a "terrorist act" and said "it is a very serious matter when Americans are taken hostage, along with others."
Yesterday, Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb made it clear that the targeting of Americans was intentional--that it was a way to send a message that the U.S. will "face the consequences" if they help the French fight Malian Islamists in southeast Algeria.

Proper response in what form? Is he going to unilaterally decide to send in troops? Are they sending in more SpecOps? You know, the guys that obama thinks are the guys in Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.
Pretty sad when a guy with a history like Panetta’s is the most aggressive stance on things.

Leon Panetta’s son is a Navy intel guy.
Leon is type of guy who is OK with watching his son’s co-workers DIE in real time, on TV, over the course of an 8-hour engagement WITH a response team idling on the tarmac 90-minutes away.

All necessary steps should have been taken at Benghazi...they weren't....it was Hillary Clinton's call, or so you would think. Maybe it was Valerie Jarret's call...it wasn't Leon The "basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on; without having some real-time information about what's taking place,"what a dumb statement Panetta.. his call or was it. All work for do-nothing Obama of Coddle Islam fame. Hilary's foreign policy's are atrocious...she was in charge.
