Early last year in Williston there had been too much attention focused on the local gentlemen's clubs for any strippers to talk with me about what they earned, but apparently that's changed.
John Eligon from The New York Times just visited the North Dakota boomtown and one visiting dancer says she often earns more than $1,000 a night. That may be a conservative estimate as word last year was dancers were making two to three times that amount, but club owners were concerned with IRS attention and prohibited employees from speaking to the press.
With nearly two men for every woman, tension and opportunity often run high. Eligon tells the story of a local 22-year-old woman bar patron offered $7,000 for a few hours of nude cocktail service. The five guys making the offer just wanted to spice up their mixed martial arts viewing, anything to cut the monotony, lack of women, and long hours in the fields.

And claim she is a waitress making $30,000.00.
How much for your soul?
Just told the old lady to pack her bags.
Have her direct deposit her money. Save time so you won’t have to go to the mailbox and pick up the checks.
I wonder how much a Hooters waitress makes under the table?
Well, it’s their money to spend, but I’ll pass. Maybe I’m a tightwad, or just a bit of a prude, but I’ve ever quite understand the appeal of strip clubs. I just can’t see giving my hard-earned money to a woman just to get her pretend that she’s interested in me for a few minutes until the next guy gets his turn.
I mean, if I wanted that sort of attention, I’d get back with my ex-wife!
Politicans are sell their soul for a lot less.
“ever quite understand”
Er, that should read “never quite understood”
LOLOLOL
Oh my—this is hilarious!
My husband was an oil man in Williston for a while. We lived there for 3 1/2 years, and loved it! It was a sleepy little town of about 1500 people at that time. I hear from friends back there who hate what the boom is doing to their town.
I’m sure they will love hearing this—LOL!
Heck, I'd even iron out the wrinkles.
Or is this gig just for females?
Depends what she does under the table
I worked in a strip club in Portland, OR for a year. Bartender and worked up to bar manager.
It’s nonstop dramarama. Quite a few of the girls were addicted to either booze or drugs, incessant catfighting, complaining about lousy tippers or bad boyfriends/husbands/significant others, them getting falling-down drunk on the job, or I recall one of them gambling her tips away over the course of her shift and hitting me up for $150 to cover her rent. I declined.
There were two of the women at the place that were cool; both were teetotalers, didn’t use drugs, and were frankly pretty normal. No major issues, no drama, friendly, not catty. One of them also worked as a bartender there as well, and she was very professional and good at her job. Both were married, one had kids, the other didn’t. For both of them, it was straight-up moonlighting to pick up a few extra bucks.
The rest of them......eech. Problems galore.
My Daughter is graduating high school. I think I’ll pack her S&$t and send her to North Dakota.(sarc)
Screw this govment gig, I’m headin to North Dakota!

That was funny. You sound like my husband...he’s said the same, kind of. But, he doesn’t like fake boobs either so he may be in the minority. Something about a woman that had bags of water SEWED INTO HER CHEST turns him off the same way.
I’d like to go check out N. Dakota. I’m routing for anybody that went up to work....The strippers? I don’t think it’s a good thing for a woman to do, but not my business.
Sounds like hard earned $$$ to me.
The “normal” women you speak of remind me of the character in the film The Wrestler...it was an odd little movie, but the acting was good.
It all boils down to what individuals want to do with THEIR life. I think a woman is making a mistake going down that road, but not my decision.
