I stand in strong support of the agreement reached by my colleagues today. Our conference has united around a common-sense proposal. It rests on the recognition that our challenge is twofold: We have to pay our bills today, and we have to make sure we can pay our bills tomorrow. To achieve both ends, we must cut spending and budget responsibly.
Since taking the majority, House Republicans have done their job. Weve passed a budget that promotes economic growth and gets spending under control. But for nearly four years, Senate Democrats have refused to pass a budget. Todays agreement will hold the Senate accountable for this legal and moral failure. Just as April 15 is tax day for American families, it is budget day for Congress. Unless the Senate acts, there will be no consideration of a long-term debt-ceiling increase. I look forward to working with my colleaguesin both houses and in both partieson this vital issue.

Where does it say that they are planning to withhold Senate salaries?
But doesn’t this have to pass the senate & get signed by the pResident ?
Good idea, but can’t see that happening....
Apparently you don’t understand:
Congressional pay is irrelevant, under the table money and power paid by special interests are.
You can’t hurt them by holding their “legal” pay because it is simply a pimple on an Elephant’s ass to them.
At least half the members of congress are worth $1M or more, it will take a long time to starve them.
Doesn’t do enough. Make it reduce Senator’s administration funds zeroed, and their STAFFERS pay and benefits stopped as well.
THAT would do something. . .
At last a GOP idea that makes sense. Congress should be expected to pay bills they approved. And the President should submit a budget without anything off-budget.
Sounds good, EXCEPT: The Senate and house rats and RINO’s will insert pork into it directing the pork into their bank accounts. This will be done at the last minute, with no one reading the bill, in a crisis to “save” America. And they will get paid.
They found 1/2 of a gonad in the house?
Pelosi hates it, calling it a gimmick. THat’s good enough for me.
