Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Senate's Republican minority leader, said in a statement he welcomed the pressure on his Democratic counterparts who had "prevented this body from performing its most basic of duties: passing a federal budget."
Boehner is powned again.
BUDGET......BUDGET.......BBUDGET.
WTF is wrong with these spineless A$$ hat RINOs?
Having no actual end to raising the debt ceiling is, just, like having no actual end to the existence of non-conservatives from within the entire GOP! Both of these things need to, actually, end, as soon as possible, if they, ever, do end!
There is none.
- Congress has failed to reign in Entitlements year, after year, after year, after year
- The failed "Super Committee" decided it was not going to reign in Entitlements before it even had it first meeting
- The "Fiscal Cliff" negotiations quickly abandoned all Entitlement reform, and left gutting the military through Sequestration stand with only a few weeks of delay
- The "Debt Ceiling" will be raised, but Sequestration still stands to gut the military and the Republicans now hope that Obama and the Democrats reform Entitlements?
There has been exactly one Federal government institution that has sacrificed the most in terms of blood, sweat, and tears since 9/11.
The US military.
Obama has already cut the military by $450 Billion in real dollars, and Sequestration will be the death knell with $600 Billion on top of those cuts.
Even small changes to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security that slowed future growth would help solve our debt spiral, but nothing will be done.
Meanwhile, Food Stamps, Unemployment, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) which is ca$h welfare, payments to illegals, Section 8 housing.........ALL of that spending increases every second of every day.
What is the motivation for Obama and the Democrats to enact real cuts now? They will simply gut the military, and now be praised for it.
"Sequestration will not happen!" - Barack Obama, final debate with Mitt Romney
Un huh.
Like all the other lies Bath House Barry has told, that one will go unanswered.
Shame on Republicans. Shame on Democrats. Shame on the citizens of this country who now worship "their benefits."
So the Republicans will allow Obama to spend like a drunken sailor for three months with the only caveat being Harry Reid’s Senate must perform their legal obligation (that no one has done anything about them NOT doing for over 3 years)? Hoooooohkay.....
Is this a surprise? Did anyone really BELIEVE the Republicans wouldn’t give in?
I can only hope a third party rises up.
If the Senate fails to act, they said, members of Congress would not get paid. How that might work in practice, in light of existing budget law and constitutional restrictions on changing congressional salaries in the middle of a term, was unclear. House Republicans hope to pass the legislation next week.
Good thing the House didn’t hold the line during the 2011 debt ceiling fight. Otherwise, they might have been blamed and Obama would have gotten re-elected. /s
There they go again
Yep. I’m beginning to wonder why stories like this are even news.
Every time one sees the term “House Republicans” or just “Republicans”, it is nearly always followed by such terms as “back off”, “cave,” “fail”, “reverse themselves”, etc. Is there no balm in Gilead?
Of course, they did. This Republican leadership has proven time and again that they have no stomach for any type of confrontation with any Democrat.
actually ... when you get down to it, what difference does it make anymore? There is no point in just fighting over raising the debt ceiling by itself. The pubs need to fight dems on spending and how it relates to the debt and point out there is no budget. Until the pubs can articulate these matters powerfully then just fighting over taxes by itself or debt ceiling by itself will be a losing proposition
The term is “cave.”
They have been bitch-slapped so many times by pop culture and the state-run media that all they do is sulk around like beaten dogs with their tails between their legs protecting their shrinking jewels.
They may as well have the surgically removed.
They have utterly failed to communicate the message that there is no reason to lift the debt ceiling for the US to meet its constitutional requirements. We take in over 200 billion a month in revenue and our constitutional obligations are between 30-40 billion.
If they are incapable of explaining to the American public that what we need to do is prioritize spending until we reach an agreement to reduce deficit spending, they should not hold office.
Personally, I think they don’t want to stop spending because they have as much pork involved to buy votes as the Dims. I still haven’t decided whether or not they are aware that the Dims are intentionally spending us into collapse.
We need to threaten to “:shut down the government again” like was done in the 1990’s...
Then when the Lie-berals Squeal like stuck little pigs we simple need to say this sentence:
“We just want to shut it down like it was in the 1990’s, you know when we shut it down and civilization basically ended and there was nothing but anarchy in the streets and people dying everywhere in the streets of America, oh wait that didn’t happen did it....”
Basically go on to tell them that their threats of doom if the government is shut down are nothing but idle threats and they are fools for thinking it will affect us in a horrible world ending way.
“House Republicans back off from fiscal clash with Obama”
of course they did
I still say we need an actual second party. Can’t see any real difference in the in the ones we supposedly have. I want to call it the CONSERVACAN PARTY and use Goldwater’s book as the founding document. Except the only place I really disagree with Barry is that Conservatism should claim the dead center, not the right, since the long term security and solidity of the country has to be neither revolutionary or status quo.
