No. Deep spending cuts NOW.

No future Congress can be obligated by one from the past, so you’d reduce it 1% for one year, if at that.

We need the Fair Tax, except for the prebate; the poor should, again, beg/barter/grovel for anything from their fellow Man; not be given ‘free’ $$ from the Gov’t from the taxpayers unwilling pocket.

When everyone sees what they are paying THEN something will get done.

The Penney Plan is a one percent reduction in spending per year until the budget balances. It can be enacted that way and is projected to balance the budget in six years. This is assuming the same anemic growth we have now. When we show the spine to do something about government spending I believe growth will accelerate. So the budget will balance so er. More importantly, the public will start to believe they have an ally in government again. This will result in increasing pubbie majorities in the house and senate. So the legislation will stand and the pubbies fortune will rise as long as they follow it.

I am with you on taxes. The ONLY tax this nation should have is a national retail sales tax. I don't agree with any predates etc. Everybody pays, nobody skates. BUT...the constitution will need to be amended. I have developed a number of ideas for amending the constitution. Not because the constitution is and of itself flawed, rather our present constitution is wholly inadequate to control an immoral and unjust people. Especially the political class. And I must say the only way to get these needed changes to the states for ratification will be an article five convention. Congress would never approve the amendments I have in mind because in total they will destroy the power of congress to enslave us. And also the courts and the executive branch. This must be done if we are to remain free. The national sales tax and its rate would be codified in the constitution. The ability of congress to lay and collect taxes would be revoked. Their ability to borrow money limited by requiring three quarters of the state's legislatures approval for any one borrowing authorization. There are others such as; elimination of income taxes, property taxes, and judicial review. Repeal of the seventeenth amendment. The elimination of all federal transfer payments. Amount others. All designed to put the federal government into its proper role. I know it is ambitious.

About the only thing good about getting old is I won’ t be around to be their slaves for very long. Indeed I won't be their slave at all. Good luck FReeper. It is gonna get rough on old coots soon. In the end we have failed the test of tempered self government. Wonder where freedom will reestablish itself?

Still, one Congress can’t obligate any future; so in theory it works for only one year; hence the ‘drastic’ cuts YEAR ONE. Enough of the phony 5/10 yr. plans that don’t do squat.

2nd, only TAXPAYERS will feel they have some say finally; the moocher class is still (IMHO) over 50% and winning; there’s no guarantee of any true Constitutional leaning (I wouldn’t trust a GOP as far as I could throw ‘em) and thus, any true repeal of our Republic ‘founding’.

Like you, I don’t see D.C. giving up the power they’ve co-opted from the People. No judge, who signs their checks, is going to put them in their place (one flaw...again IMHO). As long as this was the SINGLE issue, I’d say yes, go for it, but many a State (CA, the NE corridor) would try to co-opt to ram more shit.

I’m not too keen on the 23% in the Fair Tax either. They call it ‘revenue neutral’....is that neutral to the true function of gov’t per the Constitution, or the current rate? Is the latter, it can be MUCH lower, letting the States deal w/ the rest. I think we should fight using the 9th, 10th and Art. 1 Sect 8; using the words of those of the Founders and have the Left/Judges spinning on their eyebrows trying to re-think some of the most brilliant minds of the time.

It doesn’t seem that the current GOPe is going to do anything to benefit the People anyhow...might as well go full gusto @ the State level and tell D.C. to F* off and restore the Republic (cut off all funding in the process)

I believe you are referring to the article five convention here. The beauty of the article five convention is hat congress must forward any convention approved amendment to the states for ratification. Congress doesn't have a choice. Since the states must ratify any suggested amendment, the opportunity for the marxist states and cities to commit mischief checked. Nonsense simply won't be ratified. And ratification is on a state by state basis so we have a chance to correct progressive evil. Still, I won't hold my breath.
