A perfect waste of good whiskey. Should have returned the bottles filled with rubbing alcohol.

Shackelton, being a no nonsense man, likely would have like to have seen the whiskey drunk and enjoyed. That would have been a more fitting tribute to his memory. They could have at least enjoyed one bottle, giving him and his brave men a hardy toast.

I wouldn’t be afraid to march into hell behind the great Shackleton!

Howdy, Slim.

There is simply NO WAY that I would have been able to resist trying this Scotch. None!

I bet the Kiwi PM tried it, but wouldn’t ‘fess up to it. Typical lying politician. ;)

I would have switched it out for Cutty Sark and called it good.

How you been?

Huts and the supplies left therein were left by early explorers with the thought that the shelter and food might save someone years later. After the Endurance sank on his next voyage Shackelton initially tried to make for a known, old, supply cache on an island near the mainland, from where they could have sent a small party for help. Ice drift eventually forced his hand otherwise. Returning the bottle honors Shackelton's practices.

It also is worth noting that this Shackelton hut exits because Scott refused him the use of the better positioned hut Scott left from his first pole try, on which Shackelton had participated.

Read both, Shackleton was a bad@ss.

One more amazing thing was that so many of those guys who survived this ordeal went on to WW1 and were killed in combat.

I’ve been doing pretty well Slim! Sorry for the delay.

My daughter is in 4-H and we have been busy getting ready for the livestock show and sale the past few weeks. The show was last Wednesday and we did the final cleanup on Sunday. What a relief!! How are you?
