President Obamas announcement last week on his plans to make sweeping changes to our nations gun laws by presidential executive order is yet another example of his continual disregard for the United States Constitution and the separation of powers it set forth to protect the American people from government by fiat.
Putting aside for a moment the misdirected emphasis on gun ownership, as opposed to mental illness and cultural glorification of violence to curb gun crime, President Obamas actions represent another attempt to circumvent Congress a Congress elected by the people but controlled by Republicans to establish public policy that supports his liberal agenda.
As we all learn early on in grade-school civics class, one of the most important and distinguishing aspects of our government is the system of checks and balances. Our Founding Fathers created a system of divided government, where the power at the federal government is separated among three distinct branches: the legislative (Congress), the executive (the president) and the judiciary (the Supreme Court).
What makes America so great? Read Rick Santorums inspiring and patriotic book, American Patriots: Answering the Call to Freedom, now at the WND Superstore.
Yet time and time again, when President Obama has met resistance from Congress, the check on his powers in the executive branch, he has found ways to circumvent our system and impose his views and vision.
Some examples: Two days after he took office, President Obama rescinded by executive order the Mexico City policy, which prevents foreign aid going to organizations that perform or promote abortions. No legislation passed, no debate, just an executive order. In early 2011, the Obama administration stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, a law duly passed by Congress and signed into law. Here President Obama has directed his Department

blah..blah..blah...
Ping me when he picks up a rifle...Otherwise, its just more Rick bloviating.
OK - I am just an ol’ country boy - but when does legal action of some kind commence?? What’s holding it up??
I especially like what he’s been saying about using the power of the states because congress isn’t going to help us.
Talk is cheap.
Meanwhile:
Yeah, but this is better than what Santorum has done up to now. He came across as small, whiny and prissy and he never really engaged Obama, although like Romney, he was good at attacking other GOP candidates.
But maybe there’s really something there and maybe Santorum really will grow up and be a man. Sometimes it takes a crisis situation to make people open their eyes to reality, and maybe Santorum is opening his eyes right now.
Encourage people who wake up, don’t shoot them down.
Ho Hum. We have no leaders yet that are awake. All are lightweight wannabe's with no leadership or courage to take on the job of challenging the idiots. Voter fraud? You betcha!
? Is there anyone else doing something besides talking? Why kick Rick’s ass?
He is just so icky. He comes across as a pathetic opportunist. You could see the delirious excitement on his face at the short lived attention he got.
It seems as if his base would be in single digits. He also seems to be not that bright.
Isn’t it unreasonable to expect an unconstitutional president to act in a constitutional manner?
I also thought Santorum was an opportunist and not very bright, but I would have voted for him if he had ever focused on defeating Obama. And he never did - it was all about defeating his GOP rivals, with only an occasional glance towards Obama. The same was true of Romney, who was fierce and aggressive with the other GOP candidates and an absolute kitty-cat when it came to Obama.
But better late than never, and if something has somehow managed to make Santorum realize that it’s about the country and not about him, that would be a good thing.
“But better late than never, ..”
Actually Rick Santorum had an A+ rating from the NRA, and was responsible for allowing guns to be still Made in the USA. If it weren’t for Rick, we’d probably being buying guns made from foreign nations, like Red China.
Rick Santorum fought to keep gun companies in the U.S.A.! Santorum gets things done, because he is a figher!
Just ask the NRA CEO:
He [Rick Santorum] was the most effective advocate of bringing it [legislation to protect gun companies from frivolous lawsuits] to the floor and getting a vote scheduled. He used his influence to get it to the floor. Without that, we would have lost every American gun company.

Santorum (Romney stalking horse) was nothing more than a means to keep Gingrich from challenging Romney for the nomination. Once Gingrich was down, Santorum was out. Santorum will be one of those perpetual candidates collecting contributions every four years and selling books while presenting himself as a candidate for one office or another. America is full of such politicians. Why people contribute to the clowns that will never cast a shadow on the second floor of the White House dumfounds me.
Yes, and is that why the Bushbots yearn once again for Jebbie?
Judging from things Gingrich recently said, I shed no tears for his not being the 2012 GOP presidential nominee. He sounds as bad as Romney.
Ditto, John McPain. Even Nixon hesitated to go after HHH in 1968. Our little Republican primary voters do a terrible job picking candidates.
