Despotism in America Exclusive: Rick Santorum lists President Obama's constitutional violations

President Obama’s announcement last week on his plans to make sweeping changes to our nation’s gun laws by presidential executive order is yet another example of his continual disregard for the United States Constitution and the separation of powers it set forth to protect the American people from government by fiat.

Putting aside for a moment the misdirected emphasis on gun ownership, as opposed to mental illness and cultural glorification of violence to curb gun crime, President Obama’s actions represent another attempt to circumvent Congress – a Congress elected by the people but controlled by Republicans – to establish public policy that supports his liberal agenda.

As we all learn early on in grade-school civics class, one of the most important and distinguishing aspects of our government is the system of checks and balances. Our Founding Fathers created a system of divided government, where the power at the federal government is separated among three distinct branches: the legislative (Congress), the executive (the president) and the judiciary (the Supreme Court).

Yet time and time again, when President Obama has met resistance from Congress, the check on his powers in the executive branch, he has found ways to circumvent our system and impose his views and vision.

Some examples: •Two days after he took office, President Obama rescinded by executive order the “Mexico City policy,” which prevents foreign aid going to organizations that perform or promote abortions. No legislation passed, no debate, just an executive order. •In early 2011, the Obama administration stop enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, a law duly passed by Congress and signed into law. I remember that -- but actually, he was running (IMHO) against the Chicago rioters and that whole Hippie, New Left crowd. He made them the alternative to his own candidacy -- and considering that they put up McGovern and Carter, Nixon was right to do so. He recognized, apparently, what was happening to the Democratic Party as the radicals and neo-Stalinists began taking over and making it truly the party of Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs.

It seems as if his base would be in single digits. He also seems to be not that bright.

Having seen any of the GOP candidates mostly through the deliberately lying prism and funhouse mirrors of the LieStream Media, how can you be sure your picture of him is anything like accurate? Look what they said about Sarah Palin and George W. Bush.

Mark Halperin (TIME magazine chief political correspondent, institutional talking head, former Clinton Administration apparatchik, and spawn of Pentagon Papers traitor Morton Halperin) bragged to Charlie Rose and Gwen Ifill during the GOP convention that the "messages" the GOP wanted to send the People about their platform and candidate -- and Clint Eastwood's "Empty Chair" speech (which Halperin spat on as a "Bayonne dinner-club routine", which it wasn't at all) -- would never, ever reach the People, the Media would see to that. His Media cohorts would, Halperin said, spin, refract, and interpret the GOP message into incoherence .... there would be nothing left of it by the time it got to the People. He really said that -- he was frosted at Eastwood's good speech, and stung by it. So he dropped his guard to show his @ss, and incidentally tipped the Media's hand.

I see Mark Halperin regularly on Morning Joe & I find him to be very arrogant. I pretty much find the entire panel to be arrogant w/ perpetual smirks. (Especially the guy who just wrote a book on Jefferson or Lincoln...........he used to be w/ a magazine........he always looks as if he smelled something bad.)

I am a Clint Eastwood fan, but frankly he seemed very off that night.It was a schtick that went on too long & verged into cringe inducing for me. He also looked very unkempt. It made me wonder if his wife takes care of him at all. I have even more respect for him after I read the Esquire profile on him a few months ago.

I think people who are suspicious of the media aren’t dummies & can’t have the wool pulled over their eyes that easily.

The older I get the more Libertarian I become & Santorum would NEVER get my vote. He is a fringe candidate and should never see the light of day as anything else. That’s just my 2 cent opinion!

I once saw a speech by former Energy Secretary James Schlesinger. It was at a geological convention in Austin in 1985. Schlesinger was there to talk about the post-peak, pre-bust oil market, when oil was still selling for around $25/bbl (it had peaked in 1981 around $39) and would start its slide over Christmas Week that year when Mobil mugged Statoil (the Norwegian national oil company) to break the price -- and the price wound up sliding all the way to $9 and over a million jobs lost. (The big integrated oils wanted the break -- they laid off their E&P "upstream" staffs en masse and made a ton of money on the downstream end, selling high-priced gasoline and other fuels refined from low-cost feedstocks. Shell, Texaco, Mobil -- all of them made a mint and shed thousands of employees.)

So Schlesinger came to signify and prophesy to us, and we discovered very quickly that he was overbearing, extremely rude to people who were trying to help him, declamatory, vain, and generally a USDA Grade A Prime PITA. I decided then and there that DC could never benefit from anything so much as a neutron bomb.

I've never heard anything since thing to cause me to change my opinion; in fact, things only got worse, the more I heard about what typical Washington political denizens are like.

I think if you saw it again and realized that he was trying to reach that vast lower-middle-class and upper-lower-class of people who've heard nothing but praise for Obama for six years now, you might judge him a little more kindly. I thought it was a good effort and that he connected on many points with his criticisms, which were not delivered as a big philippic or jeremiad like you'd get from Pat Buchanan or Garner Ted Armstrong back in the day. Instead, he was gentle, used a lot of humor, and if Halperin sneered at his talk as a "Bayonne supper club routine", that was because Clint was, precisely, talking to people in Bayonne and Shaker Heights and Romulus.
