It’s Not the Message, It’s Not the Messenger, It’s the Voter

Nearly 3 months after the presidential election the Republicans are still trying to fix what they think went wrong. A popular culprit is the Republicans’ alleged failure to communicate forcefully or persuasively a message that would move voters presumably receptive to conservative policies and principles. Just in the last week Jonah Goldberg, Daniel Henninger, Ari Fleischer, Ross Douthat, and Karl Rove have worked variations on this theme. Yet we should remember that any act of communication comprises not just a sender and a message, but also a receiver. We need to focus on the nature of America’s political “receivers,” the 65 million who voted for Obama in the November election, and the 93 million registered voters who didn’t vote. If those voters are not receptive to the Republican message, it doesn’t matter much how brilliant the messenger or the packaging of the message.

And that “message” has been out there for years now and constantly repeated. Only the stupid or willfully inattentive haven’t heard that we face a financial abyss waiting at the end of our entitlement road, that entitlements need to be reformed, that we have an exploding debt and deficit crisis, that a “tax the rich” policy only produces chump-change for solving that problem, that Obama’s economic policies have bloated the federal government at the expense of jobs and growth, and that Obama himself is the most left-wing, duplicitous, partisan, and incompetent president in modern history. And conservatives have identified repeatedly the bad ideology and flawed assumptions that have generated the policies that created those problems. The fact is, many voters know full well this dismal catalogue of failure, and they either don’t care, or they believe the fatuous rationalizations, lies, excuses, and economic magical thinking offered by the Democrats.

The majority of the population in all nations is of mediocre intelligence and we are no exception.

I work in the health care field. Last week I was speaking with a social worker from another health care agency, trying to explain to her why Obamacare caused our company to reduce field employees’ hours to 29. It was the first she had heard of the effect of Obamacare on real lives.

I wonder why we are so quick to accept the idea that Romney lost the election or received fewer votes than McCain. Seems like the votes could easily be electronically transferred every which way but loose.

A few things:
1. The Obama campaign had much more $$ to spend and was much smarter about how they spent it than the Romney campaign. They had a far more comprehensive and sophisticated ground game than did Romney. For all his alleged business acumen, Romney did a crummy job of managing his campaign. He relied on an IT system to get out the vote that had not been tested. He, of all people, should have known better. Its almost as if the Romney campaign have $$ to people who told them what they wanted to hear.
2. The 2008-9 financial crisis was a game changer in this country. For the first time ever, we have a critical mass of people who just want their Government bennies and don’t want to work. Or people who are sympathetic to them. Romney was on target with his comment about the 47%—in fact he might have been low.
3. Many of the wealthy, for who the Republicans are supposedly fighting, have become hopelessly liberal.
4. Election fraud & unchecked immigration have helped turn the tide at the margins, especially in key purple states.
5. Obama’s bailout of GM resonated in places like OH and WI.
6. Yes, most people know about the Deficit, but it a rather abstract problem because it doesn’t directly effect them. If you hear about something enough and you don’t see (or understand) the consequences, you eventually tune it out. The other thing is that while Americans might not like the Deficit, they seem to dislike specific cuts to the budget even more.
7. Our decades long spree of abundance and prosperity, combined with technology, has robbed many people of common sense. They no longer see a correlation between actions and consequences.

All these things add up to really hard challenges for Conservatives. Just like the Financial crisis was a game changer for the Libs, there needs to be another game changer for conservatives. I hate to say it, but Republicans have too often helped to birth and nurture the trends (via compromise) that are now eating their lunch. I really don’t see anything turning it around short of the Entitlement system collapsing of its own weight. The Zero Interest Rate (ZIRP) policy we are seeing out of the Federal Reserve is an attempt to forstall that as long as possible.

And its related disease with almost identical symptoms, NFL-itis.

Now, if one were to interfere with football games we'd have a true uprising. King Football. To too many couch potatoes, that represents all that is Good and Sacred in this country. What a GD shame! It turns my stomach.

Of course it was voter fraud.

Surely no one believes America voted to reelect the Marxist/Muslim usurper- the worst president in American history?

Can't you just imagine the above was the scene with Obama and his Commie staff after stealing the election through voter fraud- while Conservatives blame Romney, argue, point fingers, blather on about who to run in four years, 'starting a new party', and try to figure out how to suck up to minorities the 'next time'?

Next time? What makes them think the massive voter fraud in this last farce of an election won't be repeated? If we don't clean up our voting system, there may not be a next time. We may not see another Republican president in our lifetime

Map from Barack Obama Voter Fraud 2012

What most refuse to acknowledge is that it was unlikely that ANYBODY could have beaten the voter fraud planned and perpetrated by the criminal Obama machine. They seem to prefer pointing fingers, blaming Romney and blathering on about who to run in 2016 and how to suck up to the minorities.

>Polls indicated that Romney was going to win the election.

>The economy is close to Great Depression era conditions, and unemployment is almost as high as when Obama entered office.

>Economic conditions became so dire after Obama took office it prompted the rise of an entire new movement, the Tea Party.

>Presidents rarely win reelection when the economy is in the tank.

>Mitt knew it too, when he was met by several thousand in that parking garage cheering him when he arrived unannounced at that airport, and he put his hand over his heart and said, 'This is how you know you've won'.

So how did Romney lose a race that numerous reputable polls and pundits predicted would be an easy win, based on historical patterns?

Massive voter fraud.

That and no other reason

Almost every major Conservative website has put out an article charging voter fraud- Breitbart, American Thinker, Atlas Shrugs, WND, The Blaze, Front Page Magazine, Fox News, The Daily Caller, Town Hall, Human Events, Canada Free Press...

We cannot wait for 2014 and 2016 to regroup and figure out new strategies. By then it will be too late. The Marxist/Muslim usurper will have completed his planned distruction of America. That's what people fail to understand.

We must act NOW.

Start with the election. If we let the Rats get away with this massive voter fraud, we're no better than a bananna republic.

We must keep digging and pounding him every day, in every way we can- phony birth certificate, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, his hidden life, records....

The state vote is used to determine the allocation of Electors in the Electoral College which actually elects the President and Vice President.

If the vote count is FRAUDULENT, FLAWED, and CAN'T BE TRUSTED - and if the Electors have been FRAUDULENTLY allocated based on FLAWED vote counts - then WE CANNOT ALLOW THE GOVERNORS TO SIGN THEIR CERTIFICATES of ASCERTAINMENT on December 17th. We can stop this if we ACT IMMEDIATELY.

Right on Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen.

Fundamental problem for conservatives is they want less Government, while voters want more.

Voters win.

“In the end, more than freedom, they wanted security. They wanted a comfortable life, and they lost it all – security, comfort, and freedom. When the Athenians finally wanted not to give to society but for society to give to them, when the freedom they wished for most was freedom from responsibility, then Athens ceased to be free and was never free again.”

I very much agree with that assessment.

But I also believe the entitlement system is IN collapse. There is simply no money to be had to sustain it. It is well known to someone, I just do not know who.

I do not understand why the dumblecrats are so intent on raping and robbing this country of all of its wealth. I see the game being played but not the end of it.
I do not understand how the Al Frankens and even the Chuck Shumers are so America hating that they cannot see what they are doing in the name of “fayerness”. I do not believe they are smart enough to engineer our inevitable collapse.
Can the reason be as simple as they willing grab all they can while they can and damn the consequences? Really? Are they that stupid or is something else going on?

Actually, yes. If the System does collapse, its an open question as to what will replace it. We may assume that a collapse will make people come to their senses. That is just one possibility of many. Another increasingly likely possibility, however, it that it will become a pseudo-Marxist state where all is controlled by everyone’s standard of living declines, but the bottom 40-50% retain a cushion at the expense of everyone else. And, of course, the Elites that prove cooperative will be rewarded and allowed to retain their status in some form. We will still call ourselves the United States and give lip service to “freedom”, but it won’t be a Capitalist Republic—it will be a Marxist oligarchy.

Think its not possible? Take a hard look at Venezuela. Its what happens when people care more about free stuff than freedoms. Many of these Libs that push these policies may be counting on staying in power no matter what.

But a country like Venezuela has to have some commerce...and they do: selling their oil, a source of ready capital infused into their economy to keep their welfare state schemes afloat.[A country like Greece doesn’t have anything approaching that kind of wealth engine.]

We on the otherhand have decided to bar extraction of our oil, bar the refining of our oil, make conducting business in manufacturing so expensive that we have trouble performing it. [Not to say we do not manufacture, we do but under some onerous and expensive burdens.]
We have spent since the 90’s shedding our wealth creation engines and have opted for wealth churning ones: service type jobs and the like.
And if you are correct, the ones at the top will be left with damn little to “rule” over. All the marxist oligarchies have moved to be more “capitalist”.

I still have a difficult time thinking that so many of the senators who keep pushing this nonsense are simply that clueless. I do not like Harry Reid but I did not think of him as particularly evil, not like I do the Marxist in Charge, Oblahblah. Thats why I am have an issue with some of the positions these folks are supporting.

Thank God I am not just starting out: I’ve had my main run, such as it was...but it pains me to see what is happening to the once proud country that “beat the nips and the krauts” and landed several men on the moon and found cures for diseases like polio.

4. The media complex. The out and out lying, not telling certain stories, accentuating non stories, making things up; these accounted for at least 20% of the stupid vote.

The purists (well represented on FR) who didn't vote or voted third party will crow about their stance the entire time our country cirles the drain.....and will never see the truth in the mirror......
