Minority youth are more often arrested and in Washington state’s court system than their white counterparts, according to a recent study.
Minority youth are arrested and in the Washington state court system more often than their white counterparts, a recent study commissioned by the state Supreme Court shows. But researchers said that counties aren’t keeping complete data on ethnicity and that the gap between minority and white youth is larger.
Between 2007 and 2011, African-American youth were nearly 250 percent more likely to be referred to juvenile court for prosecution than their white counterparts. They are followed by Native-American youth, who are 80 percent more likely to be referred. Overall, minority youth are 22 percent more likely to be referred.
To determine the ratio, researchers calculated the number of minority youth in a particular aspect of juvenile law and the overall population of each county.
In arrests, minority youth were nearly 85 percent more likely to be arrested than white youth statewide, the study found. But researchers said that number is likely much higher because counties count Latinos as white in their record keeping. Latino is an ethnicity, not a race.
Sarah Veele, one of the researchers from the Washington State Center for Court Research, said there isn’t a federal or state requirement for local agencies to track ethnicity in their juvenile-arrest data, so Latinos are put in the “white” category.
Researchers looked at eight categories, ranging from arrests to diversion-program enrollments.
Still, about 40 percent of all cases were missing data on whether the youth was Latino and 5 percent of cases had no indicator of race or ethnicity.
“Increasing the quality of data collected by courts is key to fully understanding how and where racial and ethnic inequality arises,” Chief Justice Barbara Madsen said.

The chief justice uses the term “inequality.” as if the progressive state of Washington is racist for arresting more minorities. Noone decides to ask the question of why more single parent kids wind up getting arrested. That wouldn’t fit patti Murphy’s worldview or other self hating white liberals.
I freely admit I did not click on the link to read the full article. But the excerpt was quite a few paragraphs, and seems to fail to answer a salient question: Did these people commit any crimes to warrant an arrest? Oh, right, we’re not supposed to think about that. We’re just supposed to focus on skin color.

And of course the Seattle Times is puzzled by this, and wants to blame it on something else. Liberals don't just wear blinders, they are attached to their heads.
Rather than realize that it is a breakdown of the minority culture due to the welfare state they will continue to demonize whites and cite “white privlidge”.
Have a liberal friend who insists “minorities” don’t actually commit more crimes than whites, they’re just arrested more often.
I pointed out that the FBI ethic crime statistics aren’t of arrests, they are of perpetrators as reported by the victims. And that most of the crimes reported as being committed by blacks are reported by black victims.
So the high crime rates of blacks are primarily the result of black victims either saying it was a black guy when it was really a white guy, or black victims making up crimes entirely.
To which his response was that the FBI statistics were cooked to incriminate blacks.

Here's an idea - reporters from the Seattle paper can request the privilege of riding with some police officers for a week. Then they can write up their observations. For the experiment they need to dress as police assistants - NOT as 'we're so gullible we believe any story if you're a minority' MSM idiot...
I suspect even the most dim witted, thoroughly indoctrinated liberal member of the press will be able to figure it out after a week...
To be fair, it should be pointed out that the kids of elite parents (with connections) are a lot more likely to get off with a warning or have charges dropped. Since more elite parents are white, this skews the stats somewhat.
But the big difference is the crime rate.
Really, there are not enough “elite” whites to skew the stats that much, especially considering the percentage of the population made up by the demographics in question.
