"... By grim coincidence, even as the terrible events were unfolding in Newtown on Friday morning, the Putnam County Emergency Response Team (ERT) happened to be assembled for regular training in Carmel, and team members were at that very moment engaged in a mock scenario of an active-shooter in a school. The ERT is comprised of specially trained and heavily armed officers from the Sheriffs Office and the Carmel and Kent Police Departments. When news broke of the Newtown shooting, the Putnam County ERT commander called Newtown Police and offered to have the ERT respond to the Sandy Hook school, but that response was not needed because Connecticut police had already secured the scene.
As information circulated about the Newtown violence, the Sheriffs Office notified school district officials in Putnam County. The Sheriffs Office and local police departments dispatched patrols to establish a security presence at area elementary schools and to augment the security already in place at most of the high schools and middle schools in the County, where deputy sheriffs are regularly assigned as school resource officers (SROs). Over the weekend, too, the Sheriffs Office coordinated with local government officials to provide deputies and plainclothes investigators for security at several civic events throughout the county..."

Were other schools and counties conducting these training drills on the same day or just this one in Putnam county?
My town in Connecticut, northeast of Hartford, has had SROs in the middle and high schools all along.
In the middle scool, they also act as teachers (health classes: drugs, alcohol abuse).
Since Sandy Hook, they’re in the elementary schools as well.
They laughed at Wayne LaPierre’s suggestion to have SROs and it sounds like they were already doing it for a lot of schools. (except for elementary schools)
Here in Newtown the three upper level schools have a SRO, but not the 4 elementary schools.
And CNN having footage of the St. Rose of Lima school, instead of Sandy Hook.
Maybe they had planned on writing articles on a planned drill and the drill information got mixed in with the real massacre.

I didn’t know of any “drills” that day, but my youngest didn’t/doesn’t go to SHS so I wouldn’t have been notified if there were any. The St. Lima footage CNN ran was strange as it was filmed in the late afternoon (judging by the southerly direction police were running and long shadows cast to their left) - not at all the same time as the SHS tragedy, if even the same day.
St. Rose of Lima.
The media are invited to the big, multi team drills. Just FYI.

The last flap I recall about SROs was about Single Room Occupancy and how it tended to attract undesirables to a neighborhood. How times have changed!
There seems to be a blackout on the information coming out, but this may be because of the state trooper who is acting as the spokesman. He was talking about prosecuting people who put anything about the incident on social media. He didn't specify what he was going to prosecute, so he may have scared some of the people away that actually know what went down. Supposedly, the records will be open in a few months, then we may know more.
Since we don't have enough information on what Adam Lanza motives were or even why he picked this school, I'm going to concentrate on what we do know. We know the Obama administration, the Democratic Party, and the media is using this massacre to gin up support to take the guns away from law-abiding citizens. Since disarming the citizenship is the same thing that Hitler and other dictators throughout history did before they seized complete control, I'm going to do my best to fight them. I believe they are also trying to negate the fourth amendment when they talk about confiscation of legal property.
