From the comments on HuffPo it appears todays little filibuster negotiation was a real boon for the GOP.

Harry took a look at the possible loss of the Senate in the next election and decided that he was going to get what he gave when that happens. Don’t know why he would have, since you have mostly a passel of dickless men in the Senate on the Republican side. Maybe we should be buying some of those “testosterone pills” they advertize on late-night TV and send them to the Republican Senators for free.

The question is, what kind of deal did he strike with McCain? You can bet he didn’t “chicken out”. He got something, now we just get to find out how we were sold down the road.

But his legacy will be that he abandoned desperately needed reform and chose more gridlock instead. Some people talk about gridlock like its a bad thing.

If the Democrats do it, it’s “Filibuster Reform”.
If the Republicans do it, it’s “Tyranny of the Majority”.
Notice how the term, “The Loyal Opposition” isn’t mentioned nowadays? Must be one of those coincidences again.

Golly. When Trent Lott proposed filibuster reform rules, it was labeled “the Nuclear option” and demonized by the Left Leaning Press.

Reid had no intention of setting the precedent, 2014 is staring at his sourpuss' face. The guy just got something from nothing, lol nice bluff Reid. I laugh at those DUmmies who are pissed, they were being played, as well as that fool who represents Kentucky and the Minority Repubs in the Senate.

Every four years, following a presidential election, the Senate can review and revise its rules. Filibuster rules have strayed far from the tactic's purpose and now allow the minority party to block not only votes but even debate on issues of the day. It's funny when liberals pretend they can think.
Every two years they vote on the rules. The rules haven't strayed, they haven't changed at all. The minority isn't blocking debate, Reid is blocking debate -- the filibuster requires debate, but the majority leader can then pull bills rather than allow the senate to discuss them.
