Prince Harry 'unlikely' to see front line action again
The Telegraph ^ | 24 Jan 2013 | Gordon Rayner

The Prince, 28, has made it clear in interviews that he would love to get the chance of a third tour of duty, but his Apache squadron is not due to return before the scheduled pull-out of combat troops at the end of 2014.

It is almost inconceivable that the Prince would be allowed to return as a foot soldier, his preferred option, meaning that unless the Nato withdrawal deadline overruns, he will not be going back to Helmand.

The Prince is currently enjoying a month-long break from his Army duties following the end of his 20-week posting to Camp Bastion, after which he will return to Wattisham airfield in Suffolk, where his Army Air Corps squadron is based, to train for promotion from co-pilot to pilot.

He holds the rank of Captain, meaning he could apply for staff jobs based in the UK, but he may choose to remain a pilot for another 10 years or more.

That would mean that he could still see front-line service, but only if Britain goes to war on a new front.

He’s impressive. Not many other privileged people are so willing to put their lives on the line.

Now that women are on the front lines, could be scandalous.

As the vestiges of the Britannic Empire erode, he is a throwback to heraldry.

I’m assuming obama’s daughters will register for the women’s draft when they reach age 18.

After all, Barack signed up cleanly for the Selective Service right on time....

  1. That's good, I guess.
  2. What sane person on this side of the Atlantic really gives a rat's ass about the Royal Fraking Family?

If he were a Yank, Panetta would be replacing him with the Kardashian sisters.

I’d love Prince Harry to be my wingman.

I’d love the Obamadork to be my toilet paper.

He’s a hog for combat all right. Didn’t his Dad ride shotgun on a Challenger tank?

Many do....
Just like many would care less about your habits and hobbies, what ever they are. Just because you don’t like something doesn’t mean your beliefs are perfect. My guess your brother in law says the same thing about you. My brother in law has said the same thing about me.

Not exactly. Naval service and some flying. I only remember the news of him going solo in a Chipmunk, all the other planes listed I bet he had a copilot...:^)

Remember, this was the guy who after all of the private schooling only got 2 A levels, marginal for university entrance in the 60's.

Prince Chuck from wiki...

Following royal tradition, Charles served in the navy and air force. After requesting and receiving Royal Air Force training during his second year at Cambridge, on 8 March 1971 he flew himself to the Royal Air Force College Cranwell to train as a jet pilot. Following the passing-out parade that September, he embarked on a naval career, enrolling in a six-week course at the Royal Naval College Dartmouth and then serving on the guided missile destroyer HMS Norfolk (1971–1972) and the frigates HMS Minerva (1972–1973) and HMS Jupiter (1974). He also qualified as a helicopter pilot at RNAS Yeovilton in 1974, just prior to joining 845 Naval Air Squadron, operating from HMS Hermes. On 9 February 1976, he took command of the coastal minehunter HMS Bronington for his last ten months serving actively in the navy. He learned to fly on a Chipmunk basic pilot trainer, a BAC Jet Provost jet trainer, and a Beagle Basset multi-engine trainer; he then regularly flew the Hawker Siddeley Andover, Westland Wessex and BAe 146 aircraft of The Queen's Flight.

Send him to Mali—he could serve with the Legion for a while.

Props to Prince/Captain Harry Wales. He is actually killing terrorists and not just yapping about the WoT.

Thankfully he was not around in 1776

A young, handsome, courageous and bold Prince Harry would had been a tremendous asset to the Empire. He might even be able to rally the Loyalists in the 13 Colonies and the results might had turned differently.
