Criminal charges weighed in Newtown deaths (sandy hook massacre)

HARTFORD -- The prosecutor investigating the Newtown school massacre told a new panel Thursday not to expect a final report on the Dec. 14 slaughter anytime soon.

Danbury State's Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III announced that while no criminal prosecution seems likely to emerge from the mass murder and suicide, he wants to suppress much of the evidence from the public anyway.

"This is an ongoing criminal investigation, for which I have obtained extensions of time from the Superior Court to keep documents sealed, so that the investigation may continue unencumbered by distractions," Sedensky said.

"The rules of professional responsibility for prosecutors require that I take steps to prevent publicity that would have a substantial likelihood of materially prejudicing a potential prosecution," he said.

In a brief appearance before Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's 16-member Sandy Hook Advisory Commission, Sedensky said that he expects the State Police report on the shootings to be several months away.

"Of course, if the investigation reveals that there should be a criminal prosecution, then that prosecution would take precedence over any report," Sedensky told the panel of municipal officials, mental health experts, security professionals and social-service providers.

"Though no such prosecution currently appears on the horizon, I am sure you can appreciate that all leads need to be investigated and evidence examined before final decisions and statements are made," he said.

He offered to meet privately with a representative of the advisory panel to provide information that he might not release to the public.

Sedensky said that during the first week after the shootings, federal, state and local police worked around the clock investigating the crime scenes at Sandy Hook Elementary School, at the 36 Yogananda St. home of Nancy Lanza, whose son Adam, 20, murdered her before driving her car to the school, and elsewhere.

It will be months before a report is released.

"We are hoping for some time this summer, perhaps in June," said Sedensky, a Newtown resident, adding that details on the mental health of Adam Lanza, are protected from disclosure under privacy regulations and might not be able to be provided to the commission.

Bill Ritter, the former governor of Colorado whose district attorney of Denver investigated the aftermath of the 1999 shootings at Columbine High School in Littleton, told the panel the nation is watching.

"You could wind up saving lives at some point in the future," said Ritter, who later became governor and became a target for a deranged gunman who was shot and killed by a state trooper outside his office. "Healing can happen" but it can be a long-term process.

Richard Bonnie, a professor at the University of Virginia School of Law who was an adviser to the Virginia Tech Review Panel following that 2007 shooting, warned that legislation and regulatory changes can be affected by emotions.

"Tragedy can compromise thoughtful policy making," he said from Virginia.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, in the panel's first meeting Thursday morning, said that the consequence that seems to be separating Newtown from other mass shootings is that momentum for a positive outcome to the crime seems to be gaining every day, not fading.

"We must take a serious look at public safety, particularly school safety, so our children can grow up and go to school without the fear of violence in a culture that does in fact glorify violence," Malloy said.

"We need to have a discussion about stopping that," Malloy said. "The recommendations you will craft over the coming weeks and months will no doubt take us toward that goal: better mental health, better safety in our schools and a system that is set up to stop the glorification of the violence."

Later in the afternoon, after Sedensky's testimony, Malloy, a former prosecutor, was asked by reporters about the reticence to release more details of the shooting.

"I think there's always this situation where a prosecutor is trying to make the right balance," Malloy said.

"This was an attack so outrageous, in the killing of 20 six-year-olds that in many ways it's going to have an imprint, the likes of which I can remember where I was, in the classroom, when someone came in to say President Kennedy was shot," Malloy said. "I think this is that kind of event. So I think he needs to take the time necessary to conclude the investigation. Having said that, I would hope that as little time is necessary. It's more important to get it right than to rush out a report."

On Friday morning, a legislative subcommittee looking into issues of school security after the Sandy Hook shootings will hold a public hearing starting at 9:30 a.m. in Room 2-C of the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

What about the 'nurse' who claimed Lanza's mother was the best kindergarten teach that that school had ever seen, when we all know that the mother was never a teacher at the school...

You mean the nurse who was in the closet all morning and thus knew nothing. The nurse never said that. The reporter from the network said that and the reporter was clearly mistaken, because the names of teachers in that school are a matter of public record, and Nancy Lanza's name is not amongst them or anywhere associated with the school. Reporters do make mistakes.

What about the two guys who one cop said, 'they're coming at me'???

That was Chris Manfredonia, a parent of a child in the school, who was briefly detained early on, but let go when his story checked out.

What about the guy on the ground handcuffed as told by one of the kids???

That was Chris Manfredonia. He was taken down to the firehouse and put in the front of a police car.

What about the black car on the tow truck which they claimed was Lanza's but had a different licence plate???

Someone checked property tax records and found that Nancy Lanza owns a black Honda and the other guy doesn't. Now how hard was that to do. You mean all these bright questioners couldn't figure that out??? And these are the people you are relying on for information.

These things are all parts of news video reports but we are told to ignore them.

You mean parts of You Tube videos made by foreigners, 20 year old unemployed dopers, and Alex Jones groupies who have you all hyped up over edited tapes that people embarrassingly fall for.

Go look at the video of that broken window again and let it sink in.

Saigas are very customizable weapons, so to an untrained eye, you might not recognize two identical models if they have been modified with different stocks, grips, scopes, sights, etc. The identifying characteristics that remain the same are not the most obvious ones that draw the attention of your eye. For example, if you look at the photos of those 2 very different looking Saigas, you can see they still have an identical and distinct geometry between the front grip and the shoulder stock, if you ignore all those modifiable features.

Now, even from the fuzzy video of them finding it in the trunk, it was recognizable as a semiautomatic, tactical-style shotgun, most likely a 12 gauge. The hardcore gun experts who are good at picking out the little details suggested a few different candidates, but by far, the majority pegged it as a Saiga. Turns out they were right.

What will happen when all those questions of yours that have already been answered again and again get answered again and again???

I haven't seen any answers to those questions that you say were answered again and again...

And I was noticing in one of the videos where the 2nd guy in white picks up the 2nd object; a cloth gun case according to you...He picks it up with one hand and switches it to the other side of his body while holding it in the center with one hand and supporting the butt of the thing with the other hand...I have never needed two hands to reposition a cloth gun case, of any kind...

There was no staging area set up at that time. They arrived at his house within a few minutes of the shooting, so the police were probably just arriving at the school around that time.

From everything we've read, there were drills previously and the fire station was the designated staging area...Even the running kids according to the videos on this post show us that the kids were running to the fire station...

And according to the videos on this thread, the police were already at the school...

You may be looking at the wrong guy. There is one guy that looks like he might be holding some kind of video camera.

The guy I was talking about is at the top of the screen.

Well, the early part of the video from the other direction has a good shot of the trunk from overhead, illuminated by flashlight, and there is only one weapon visible. Also, the object the second tech pulls out of the trunk appears to flop around, which a rifle just doesn’t do.

Yes, but what I mean is, even if the kids were told that was the designated staging area, and that is probably why they ran in that direction, it was too early for anyone at the firehouse to have known what was going on and actually set up a staging area. If they had, I think the people at the staging area would have noticed the kids a few feet away and brought them inside, don’t you?

Well there is still several perps that can be charged; the Rifle Manufacturer, the Ammo Manufacturer, the Magazine Manufacturer and any After Market Mods Manufacturers the rifle/handgun owner used to mod the weapons.

So, ya know...

The reporter just made it up??? She tells us a story of a conversation but she was mistaken, the story never existed???

And then it was claimed that that nurse was not on record as being a school employee...

That was Chris Manfredonia. He was taken down to the firehouse and put in the front of a police car.

The guy they found in the woods??? So they had this guy cleared in a matter of minutes, or a very short period of time and let him sit in the front seat of a police car??? A mass murder and they don't take this guy downtown for serious questioning???

What about the two guys coming at the cop???

So Chris Manfredonia was the guy out in the woods...Chris Manfredonia was the guy on the ground, handcuffed...Chris Manfredonia was the guy sitting in the front seat of the police car...Chris Manfredonia was the two guys running at the cop...

I don't remember if it was these kids or another small group that ended up on the school bus...The driver however would have known about the fire station staging area...

Saw an overhead map of the area...Appears as tho the fire station was across and down the road, or at least thru a bunch of trees...

I don't know about a camera...The first guy in white who approaches the vehicle reaches inside the trunk and walks away with a visible weapon...The next guy in white circles around that guy while he is in the trunk and goes up to the trunk and pulls something out...Something that at this point I believe is another weapon...A third white clothed guys is walking away from the trunk carrying something that looks heavy, maybe an ammo box or some magazines...That's what I see...

“The driver however would have known about the fire station staging area...”

I don’t know if I would assume that. Bus drivers usually work for the bus company, not the school district, and they aren’t necessarily included in any school training or drills.

“Saw an overhead map of the area...Appears as tho the fire station was across and down the road, or at least thru a bunch of trees...”

Ah, I was just going off what other have said, that it was next to the guy’s house. Either way, I don’t see what the big deal is with those kids. They ran out of the school in a panic, and didn’t run to the exact place they were supposed to. I figure, in that situation, you are going to be more concerned about where you are running from than where you are running to.

She tells us a story of a conversation but she was mistaken, the story never existed???

Not the way she told it.

That same bimbo reporterette claimed that the nurse told her that she came face to face with the shooter and he mysteriously just turned around and walked out and then she ducked down behind the desk.

Now just how likely is that??? The shooter who killed everyone he saw would just look at her and just walk away and let her live and then she hides under her desk after he has already seen her???? Please!!!.

When the nurse was interviewed on 60 Minutes she said that she was under her desk when the shooter came in and all she saw was his boots.

That's the reporterette who you think can be trusted to relay to you something reliable???

She's probably already been fired and is working tables at Denny's.

So they had this guy cleared in a matter of minutes

It wasn't minutes but I'm sure his story checked out.

He has a daughter in the school, and while they are taking him down, there are still shots being fired in the school. So he's clearly not the shooter.

And some man at that time called 911 to report shots being fired in the school. And since there were no male teachers at the school, he was more than likely the one who made that 911 call.

Furthermore he turned out to be the Athletic Director of Fairfield High School -- not your typical elementary school killer.

Jungle tape....fragmenting bullets...Rambo all the way.

So he carried over 200 rounds in ‘jungle taped’ set up - designed to allow you to easily reload. BUT only shoots half...due to video games....even though he has been at the range practicing....

So which the @#$@#$ is it....did he learn from video games...or was he at the @#$@#$ practice range???

Will you get the @#$@#$@#$ script correct for once!

The reporter just made it up???

There is no taped converation between the reporterette and the nurse -- only the reporterette's report of her conversation.

The reporterette, still thinking that the reports that the shooter's mother was the kindergarten teacher are correct, probably asked the nurse:

"Do you know the kindergarten teacher's son and what kind of person is he???"

The nurse [probably wondering what the hell this has to do with the school shooting] knows the kindergarten teacher [who is not Mrs Lanza] and her son [who is not Adam] and innocently answers:

"yeh I know him and he's a very nice person."

The reporterette is thinking that she is referring to Mrs Lanza as the kindergarten teacher and her son when she is really referring to Mrs Notmrslanza, the actual kindergarten teacher and her son, who probably is a very nice person.

A bimbo reporter who is not on the same page as the person she is talking to, at a time when they are still reporting that Mrs Lanza was the kindergarten teacher -- which was news to everybody from school officials to parents.

And that's part of a Sandy Hook conspiracy??? Please!!!

For those who follow this closely enjoy this tape.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX2ITHV6k-U

If you want to make it into a game here it is:

Find the number of instances of Gene Rosen in this clip.

He apparently likes the free ‘refreshments’ that come with a DHS exercise plan.

And see if Josh Sugarmann makes a cameo or 2. After all - Newtown is the hometown of the father of the term - “assault weapon”.
